Just found out. :D

Except now I don't know if I want to go because I'm a Jew and can't decide if I want to spend the money.

Am I being stupid to be having stingy thoughts toward education?
 
do you need it to advance in whatever you want to do with your life, then go for it. If it wont help don't bother. I don't think education will ever hurt your career. I wish I would have done more school.

Well I only applied to 2 programs and they're in drastically different subjects, and one is twice the price of the other.

I'd love to do them both. I won't know about the 2nd for months though. Maybe the choice will be easy and I won't get in to the 2nd one. :)

This one will 100% help with my nonprofit. The other I'm not sure I got in to yet might help. I think I'm unsure bc since they're totally different, I'm afraid I'll choose one, then wish I chose the other and be out 10s of thousands of dollars for nothing.
 
Just don't cry about college loan forgiveness 5 yrs from now.

congrats and I think you should do it because even if the the cost doesn't work out right this second it might in the future
you can always build on more education with more education

If it's like modern dance, performing arts, english literature, etc maybe you could pass :D

What would the degree be?

If you can afford it, do it now. It only gets harder to go back the older you get.

The one I just got in to is a child psych doctoral program, which would 100% help my nonprofit. No doubt about it, even though I already have one on staff.

The other I don't know if I got in to yet is an interactive telecommunications masters program, but how much that would help me financiall post-graduation is far less certain.

I have some money saved but not nearly enough. Not even half for either. I'd likely just pray for financial aid and take out a loan for the rest.

But I figure better to take out a loan while I'm 24, single and without children than later.

I'd actually be getting a Psy.D. It's also a doctoral degree, but Ph.Ds are more for psychologists wanting to do research, and Psy.Ds are for those looking to practice.
 
Yeah, in Florida (where I am at least) you really need at least a Masters and usually even a specialty degree beyond that to be a "psychologist". 4 year degrees basically don't do dick. I'm not saying they're pointless...but they're pointless. I'm applied for the doctoral program bc combining the two is like, one extra year...so might as well.

I don't even necessarily plan on beings psychologist. I just know it will help me with my girls. Experience can't teach you everything, and when I work with kids who's parents are still in their lives, the parents are more receptive to having a paper than just knowing I've been through whatever it is myself.

That was my first post undergrad thought. Took the LSAT, then I remembered my dad working away and his stress and it didn't seem worth it to me. For nothing. At least with the girls I work with, I'm stressed about something I'm passionate about.

I could. In their situations though, I'd be persecuting others more than defending them.

I could be a lobbyist for laws protecting and helping them, but I don't need to be a lawyer for that.

It's better that way so I won't be upset when I have to listen to the obnoxious ramblings of strangers about something I care about.
