Got A Question About A Car's Clutch

What could be wrong with a car's clutch if it is hard to press down on the pedal. Does that mean the clutch is starting to go?

a car i was thinking about looking at- the guy says it grabs hard. He told me that a clutch crabs lightly when its new and hard when its old. For some reason i always thought it would grab higher when it was bad, not harder.

It is a nissan sentra econobox.

Uh, lets see nissan crapbox... let me look this up.... hmmm, possible clutch problems, maybe some tranny wear that would have to be repaired....

If a car is having any kind of tranny related problems or those related to clutch, I would pass, you are only asking to get jacked on repair bills...

But yeah, a sentra should have a little baby clutch your 10 yr old sister could deal with.....

By the way, if you are going to buy a car, call a reputable mechanic (hopefully you know one you like) and ask him to check the car out top to bottom BEFORE you buy.... most of em will charge ya like 100 bones.... if it passes and you buy it ask the seller to take it out of the price... If not, hey, maybe you lost the hondo, but you saved some repair bills...

plus they will know what the usual problems are with that make/model if you are not that familiar with it....

Well the clutch can be hydrolic or not. Hydrolic would make it hard to push down.

It can be adjusted, where the clutch grabs. Maybe it is just adjusted wrong.

that is the truth ...i drove a 91 mustang gt and it was a mini leg press sweet ride.......interior is kinda clunky but it goes like a bat out of hell

Yup... nice ride that is... would not mind having a 91 gt.... Used to have a 68 fastback with a 302 boss engine setup.. that thing could lay smoke for a block and a half.... I swear my left leg was bigger than my right after a while tho... My wife could not even push the pedal down!

could be your master cylinder, at least check it out before it leaves you stranded.
