Hamas military calls off truce after 10 killed

The Hamas military wing called off its truce with Israel, after 10 Palestinians were killed by shells fired into a crowded beach in the Gaza Strip where a family was picnicking.

All of the dead are believed to be related.

The Hamas declaration raised the prospect of a new wave of bloodshed. "The earthquake in the Zionist towns will start again," said a leaflet distributed by the militants at a Hamas rally Friday night.

"The resistance groups ... will choose the proper place and time for the tough, strong and unique response."

The truce -- which Hamas has largely honoured -- was declared in February 2005.

I'm not familiar with this incident.

But as a matter of information it should be pointed out that a common tactic of Palestinian terrorists is to shoot their rockets into Israel from in the middle of crowds. They intentionally seek out large groups of civilians from which to launch the attack.

The idea being that many of the automatic responses are carried out electronically without necessarily having friendly troops on the ground which can survey the situation ahead of time. So if you want to hit the people that hit you it must be done fairly quickly as it doesn't take very long to run a few blocks away.

As a result Israel has had to avoid immediate retaliation in many instances. The terrorists in turn are hoping that civilians are accidentally targeted for propoganda fuel and do everything possible to make it happen.

They are hardly equivelant behaviors. When the other side is intentionally working to get innocents killed and planning their attacks accordingly, they are going to succeed from time to time.

Here's a "theory": The Holocaust could have very well been the most perfect scapegoat for the Jews to weave their way into the power structure of this country for their own self interests. We're fighting their sworn enemies for them, risking thousands of American lives in their quest for their "Holy Land". They'd never have us believe such a preposterous suggestion though. This country is little more than a tool for them. How patriotic is that? I'd be completely cool with every Jew on the planet if this wasn't the case. However it is a distinct possibility at the very least. They're bringing it on themselves; it's pretty sad and unfortunate that such manipulation and selfishness has to be carried out at the expense of other people's cultures.
