they sound great Iron, but with this piece of junk amp the protection comes on and it shuts off

so they're drawing too much from the amp and it "clips"?

that is a great mid level home theater receiver.. it will power your speakers great and make them sounds awesome dts es thx select 2 its a nice receiver check it out. And receiver you want that has hdmi you will be pushing a 1000 and on up.. How much you wanna spend

ua i am not saying yamaha is shit at all over these last 3 years they have made awesome receivers at a great price i would buy one.. I like denon myself and mine is very high end cost over 2k ..

Wow, those speakers are not what i expected. They look good from the quick view I've made. You better get a more powerful amp to appreciate them. If you can swing 150-200watts per channel, that would do wonders for your setup.

Like i said, it's not everyone's priority, so you can't really tell people to buy tol stuff, but to hear what they're capable of, a solid amp will let them sing nicely.

I have small speakers with a 200wpc amp on them, so you won't be "overdriving" yours with something like I suggested. Don't worry about the "170 max" rating they give. It doesn't work like that.

You can get a receiver with whatever amp inside now, then in the future, if you feel like you need more or better sound, you can buy a separate amp just to drive the speakers and still use the existing receiver to process the stuff like I mentioned before. This way, you'll not be using the receiver's amp any longer and will rely on the new separate amp which would be bigerr/stronger/better etc... good luck Nice speakers.

I think you get more for the money from Yamaha or Onkyo than Denon.

I have a personal bias too. My dad has a Yamaha A1 receiver from 1983 he paid nearly 2g's for. I havent heard a sounding better amp.

If you want to save a few bucks and the receiver you have now is good except for the fact it clips, then you can keep it and use THAT as the processor and by a separate amp just for powering the speakers.

All you would need is an actual amp without the processing power because you'll use your current receiver as the processor. The amp you will buy would give you great sound because all the money is going into just the amp section of it. 5 channel amp X 150 200 whatever. There's a ton out there. Just a thought.
