Is anybody going? I have a few friends that are competing, and I plan on attending. One is doing is first contest and will be in the lightweight novice division, and the other 2 are in the light heavyweight division. They're trying to get me to compete, but there ain't no way I'm gonna step on stage w/ just 3 weeks prep time!!! Anybody going? Shells, YMK, Wombat, SoCaMuscle, People's Champ?

The bigger waves are up in the Oceanside area....(about 45 mins north of San Diego)

45 minutes ain't shit. We have regular surf 28 miles from home here. Then if you want the good shit, you keep going south. We have had road trips all the way to Mexico, so 45 minutes is doable, that is if you want to surf.

Where do you usually surf at? Galveston, Chrystal Beach, etc?

Galveston, 45th is my spot, the whole island is alright

Freeport (surfside) always rocks, but it's 60 miles away

Matagorda is off the hook, kinda far though

Port A, Corpus, and S. Padre all rock when we have the whole weekend off we go to one of those places

Crystal beach has no sandbars, so unless there is a groundswell (which happens maybe 2 or 3 times a year), there is nothing to surf there. Also that beach sucks, it's all trashy, and it depresses me.
