I was thumbing through ironmanmgazine and came across an old picture of arnold doing flat flyes, while Franco held his knees, while Jesup looked on.

What caught my eye was Jesus was there watching arnold finish his set. This guys shirt was drenched in sweat, his arms cut and veiny and burstinf through his sleeves. this guys wasnt huge, but he was built! Looked rugged.

What gets me is that picture was 20 years old! Why are people at the gym who juice up, dont even look as good as them? Most on juice look like big bears! Its true! we all know it.

If you see a guy whos cut, hes 6'0 180lbs.

With all the drugs and high tech drugs and supplements why can even the average guy at the gym look like some of the old bodybuilders?

I agree with you there Steelheart.

What really makes me laugh is when people say things like Arnold has thin thighs or other critisms at him and the other oldtimers. Yet the funny part is 99% of the people on the internet on juice or natural look half as good as these guys did.Same with anyone who has seen Kevin Levrone's recent offseason pics. I see posts on other sites like "he is small or normal looking" Well he still looks better and bigger then 99% of us here. Just my 2 cents.

I like the older look myself 80's and previous, the muscle looked more real and dare I say functional. Watch Pumping Iron, theres a part where Arnold comes running out of the ocean. How many Pro Bodybuilders could even walk out of the water without running out of breath.

"OLD TIMERS" WORKED HaRDER AND THATS THE BOTTOM LINE. Today the young ones use more juice and less work trying for the shortcut. Arnold and amny of the other old timers would smoke pros of today. Its all about heavy weights and hard work and you'll notice they worked out together and challenged each other. now its all about ego.

I think the oldtimers focused much more on training, rest and nutrition and much less on drugs. They knew they needed drugs to meet their goals but didn't totally depend on them like the pro's of these times.

I like Pumping Iron a lot too, Milhouse and indeed I can't imagine the 300+ lbs pro's from now training with that intensity ...

It's all about the drugs now, if you ask me.
