Going to Doc...Whats a good insomnia med?

A search will provide you with some little known but good non-addictive meds that come highly recommended by some bro's I'm sorry bro but I just can't remember any of the names at present!

Ask about ambien. It is the newest insomnea drug that the commonly prescribe. It is supposed to be non-habit forming and should help with sleep regulation.

Have you tried the non-narcotic routes? They say there aren't too many meds that you won't become dependent on, they are only for short term use. When I pull the graveyard shift sleep is always a problem. I use a supplement called Knockout from the Vitamin Shoppe. I get 8 hours out of it and don't get the sleeping pill hangover.

Ive tried Melatonin, Valerian, Hops, etc.
Nuttin keeps me asleep.

whats in that supplement you take?

Not a prescription med, but has done wonders for me.

Marijuana in ANY form. Tea, joint, brownies.

Puts me out in a heartbeat!

i have some GBL, but id rather not use that too much. Only for "special occasions".

Anyway, I think i may ask about ambien. I think the dbol is fucking with my sleep. I just need 2 weeks worth of the stuff.

Ambien

What's up bro's? Suspension, as Scotsman said, inquire about Ambien. I've used it on several occasions without failure. I'm not sure if it is habit forming since I don't use it except when I really need the sleep at a decent hour but it's the shit as far as no "hangover" the next morning.

when i worked for a doc I remember a drug called Sonata. There was some positive feedback about it. I think its still available. May be worth asking for. Any idea what's causing your insomnia? Remember, these drugs cure nothing. Do you want to be dependant on them for sleep? I wouldn't. Ok. I'm off my soap box now.

Anyone here used Ambien???????? I sleep like shit...waking up constantly during the night........ had a script for Xanax...let it run out.............. but I should of got it refilled as I sleep like a baby......Someone tell me about Ambien......... I want something to make me sleep 8 good hours....... I could care less about buzz.........

I live on anti anxiety drugs eg xanax and still can't sleep sometimes, but Trazadone works wonderfully and it is non-addictive, it is an anti-drepressent, depending on your size 100mg to 150mg per night will do it, the pills I get are 100mg.

I am 170 lbs and usually 50mg or 100mg will put me out for 8-10 hours.

Xanax is addictive. It is a benzodiazepine, ie it is related to valium(diazepam) and klonopin(klonazepam). Don't know anything about ambiean though, except that it is supposedly non addictive, but then again, some say it is addictive.

I had a script for Ambiem, first night it worked, then I went to three pills the following night just to duplicate the first nights sleep I got with one. I never worked the same again. Sorrry.
Right now I just use Unisom and a shit load of Melatonin to take the edge off. Sleep follows in about an hour or so.

Trazadone is an outdated psychiactric drug that has more side effects than other sleep aids. You're right, it is an antidepressant that is also used for insomnia, however, with the advent of newer drugs, trazadone is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Actually, the sides of Trazodone are few. Thats why we use it alot in the brain injury unit. The most famous side is priapism.....or getting an erection that wont go away. Only 1 in 10,000 get priapism. Plus the hangover in the morning is minimal.

Here are a few things you guys should know about sleeping meds:

1. some meds are for sleep induction....they help put you out but you may still wake up midsleep.

2. some meds are for sleep maintenance......they help you stay asleep.

Ambien and Sonata are for induction. Trazodone helps with both induction and maintenance. Xanax and Valium and other Benzo's are central nervous system inhibitors and thats how they put you to sleep. Addictive and easy to develop a tolerance to.

My advice is either get a good workout in the afternoon to help with sleep, or drink a nice glass of milk. Milk is a natural precursor to melatonin....and it doesnt matter if it is cold. After having sex it is also pretty easy to go to sleep.

Melatonin, Valerian, Gaba, Kava Kava and a few other things.
I'm out of it right now so the magic sleep cocktail is 3-ZMA, 225MG of Gaba, and 3MG of Melatonin.:o

Be careful with ambien b/c contrary to what most have said, ambien is addictive if you have that type of personality. My friend went on them to help him sleep and ended up taking them throughout the day to keep the "high" feeling. If you use and not abuse it, it will work good.

My problem is caused by a high dose of dbol, which i will only be doing for a few more weeks. I need something to KEEP me asleep. The concensus im getting is to ask about trazadone, especially for sleep maintinance?

I dont want somehting habit forming, nor do i want to be on this stuff 2-3 weeks max.

thanks for the replies.

defitnaly ask about Ambien...its non addicting...and especially effective for only short term usage

DO NOT ASK for specific names of medications or,unless your doc is very cool will think you are trying get pills off of him. I know because it happened to me and I am fucking RN for christs' sake.
Never ask for names of narcs or controlled substances-ever! Its a losing proposition.

I've tried them all - trazodone is the only one that has worked well. It is non-habit forming and has no long term sides. Good luck - insomnia sucks!!!

You should first try to determine what causes your insomnia.
If it is caused by anxiety/depression you should get rid of them and you'll sleep.
If you have chronic insomnia don't use any benzodiazepines since
they are all adictive and they are not supposed to be used every day.
You should first try using OTC products instead of taking benzos.
Most people have great results from taking inositol (5 or more grams) and maybe 100 mg of 5 HTP which increase your serotonin levels, kill anxiety/depression and are natural and without any sides.
Some people also have great results with kava kava, Valerian root...
There was also a thread about time released Melatonin a few days ago, it was said that it works great so please try these products instead of taking shit that can cause addiction...

Hey- i got my hands on some ambien, it worked wonders for myself. It really knocked my out within 30 minutes

trazadone

i can pop ambiens or sonata like candy i get nothing been on trazodone 1 week seems to be worth an extra 1 or 2 hours sleep no hang over:) ill know more after i take it a little longer ,i read after 2 weeks it becomes more effective
