download the original starfox.. and super mario world.. ahh.. i miss snes...

Those are just brutal to play without a controller, though, unless your fingers are more agile at keyboard input than mine. :)

Currently replaying: Chrono Trigger on ZSNES.

I was a complete and total computer nerd up untill about a year ago.. If I even could find rom's now.. im sure I couldn't play them well with the keyboard anymore.. but I don't care.. I much more prefer going outside and lifting weights over playing games all day now :)

why dont you pick up a gravis pad for 10 bucks? i had to once i started getting better roms.

this thing brings back so many memories...my god.

what other SNES games rocked way back when?

zelda
nba jam
any final fantasy
mario (of course)
street fighter 2
chrono trigger

I actually do have a gravis pad, but my bargain-ass PC can't seem to recognize it.

What other games rocked? Mortal Kombat, Secret of Mana, Soul Blazer, Mario Kart, Mega Man...

I still have have my NES and SNES (even my old Atari). I think I'll plug my SNES and play some super street fighter 2 and donkey kong 2.

manny, why dont you just download an emulator and get all the games you never had?

i think SNES was waayyyy better than genesis.

I'm an anti-sega. all the way. Back in the late 80's, early 90's, we were 2 gangs: Nintendo vs. Sega. Turbo graphix wasn't that bad. Neo Geo too. But still Nintendo was King.

Hit Kazaa. You should see a 150 game rom zip file there. That's pretty much every notable SNES made. For me favorite SNES game to play is Super Punchout. Great fun on the laptop. It still rocks today. SNES was truly a awesome game system. Lot of well done fun games.

Great SNES Game IMO
Super Punchout
Super Starwars
Super Castlevania
Contra III
Final Fanstasy games
Super Metroid
Ms. Pac-man

and I kinda liked
Clay Fighter 2-Jugdemental Clay
Justice League Battle

i agree; nintendo was king back in the day. the original nintendo has a game catalog of several thousand games, and they were all completely original.

sega master, jaguar, and turbo graphix never took off. well, none of my friends had those video game systems, so who knows. i dont remember them being advertised all that much way back when.

neo-geo was way ahead of its time. it was a 24 bit system that was out before the 16 bit systems (snes, genesis) were, but it was outrageously expensive. the game system alone was $499, and that was pretty damn pricey back in the early 90's. plus, it didnt help them that their games cost like $150 a piece, and there were only a handful of games.

jaguar was a complete flop.

turbo graphix had a cool idea of having their portable system capable of running the main system's same game. no needing to buy the same game in a smaller cartridge shit there. it just never took off though. i though bonk's adventure was pretty sweet.

sega master was out before genesis was, and that was nothing to write home about either. genesis did have some cool games, but no where as many as SNES. the only upside they had, was their games were more violent (Mortal Kombat for SNES had no blood and different fatalities, which was totally lame).

Sega's problem has always been : 1. lack of fan's.. (for some ungodly unknown reason), and therefore lack of 3rd party games... you gotta admit.. they did have some great first party classics... and Dreamcast was ahead of its time, but everyone was Sony loyal at the time... I know some of you will argue about this.. but fuck people... SEGA had the first mainstream console to be online STRAIT OUTA THE BOX! (I hooked it up and checked out some websites the night I brought it home).. It also had the first online games! Quake 3 and Phantasy star online were some fun times... and their hardware was good, just timed slightly wrong.. ahead of the n64 and ps1 big time.. but just not up to par with HUGE ASS SONY.. which released its ps2 with promises of things which are still to come... (online capabilities, online games.. ect).

ps.. I will not be arguing this further.. I am tired of arguing against biased people.. I like ALL game systems.. they all have their perks.. and disadvantages. I consider nearly every mainstream console equal, in sense of their times...

Damn, I even got into a fight with someone in 89 cause of Sega-Nintendo..... blood for NES !!!

Go for it.. everyone is entitled to an opinion...

I don't know.. maybe its bad that I am so open minded... I like most movies, Like a crapload of music, and have always been very open minded about games.. hell.. I'm open minded about anything.. alot of things suit my tastes.. I think its a good thing... I hope.

dreamcast was a decent system, but it had one major flaw. their encryption was a COMPLETE JOKE. every game was able to to ripped, copied, and distributed. i have friends with pretty much every DC game that came out, and they only purchased like 2 games. i kinda feel bad for sega. though they may be out of the console business, they will still be making games.

i fear nintendo is following the same path though :(

they announced after game cube, they will strictly be making software. so dont expect any new nintendo consoles to come out anymore.

i think nintendo's biggest mistake was focusing too much on children. they forgot about those of us who grew up on their games, and they chose to only focus on today's youth by putting out stupid, non-violent, fuzzy, and cute games.

don't get me wrong, i love mario and i love zelda, but nintendo needed to put some adult oriented games on there. did you people see what they did to the zelda for gamecube? before gamecube even launched, i was viewing videos of the new zelda, and it looked FUCKING BAD ASS. unfortunately, they re-did the entire game, and gave it this cartoon-cell type look. they completely ruined it.

What do you guys think of Xbox. I might buy one instead of having a DVD player in my new home.

NES for life, brother. :lmao:

In Sega's defence, there were some decent games for the Genesis. Golden Axe and R-Type come to mind...

Nintendo's downfall was not realizing that the video game market had shifted to an adult audience. Too bad, they were bad-ass in the early-mid 90's.

I bought one.. gonna get a ps2 soon.. here is my take on the 2 systems...

ps2- great game selection.. best controller..

bads - lowest of the hardware.. graphics are a bit lower.. only 2 controllers..

xbox- awsome graphics hardware... 4 player capability - online play, multi system hookup for up to 8 players, or even more on some games... (2 systems, 2 tv's = 8 players) ... new controllers are pretty good.. 6+gig hd.. lets you rip music onto the hd, and you can listen to it on your sound system in your living room :p also, many games support listening to that music while you are playing the game... as a substitute "soundtrack". DVD system.. have to buy a 30 dollar remote/sensor.. but not bad at all...

bads - not the game selection of ps2.. great games nonetheless.. just not as many big hits..

xbox is a more powerful system than PS2, but playstation has all of the good games and contracts. i mean, there is really no comparison. both systems can play dvd's, so i would go with the ps2.

ps2 has bitchin games like:

Grand Theft Auto 3
Grand Theft Auto Vice City
Metal Gear Solid
Final Fantasy 9-however many they make
etc.

ps2 caters more for the adult market

xbox is the shit.

best console out right now IMO.

has a lot of kick ass games on it already and a ton more coming out this year.

poink, nintendo never announced that they will go software only. in fact they have already started talking about their next system.

but if things dont pick up this could be their last console. sega is pulling all of their sports titles from the cube and EA is thinking of doing the same. sales on the cube are just horrible for anything that doesnt have mario, zelda, or metroid in it, and even those arent selling as well as they used to.

i read they are going to focus only on software on ign's site awhile back. i may be mistaken, but im pretty sure i read that.

manny, you will love GTA. i spent like 4 hours straight just killing random people and stealing cars in that game. i wasnt even doing any of the missions. the game is so bad ass.

halo 2 will blow everything coming out this year away.

more vehicles
more guns
more enemies
even smarter enemy A.I.
16 person multi player online

Sega realized it in time for the dreamcast, but by that time... there were far to many people loyal to the playstation, and instead of buying and helping the dreamcast.. most consumers held out for the ps2.. which.. ps2 is a superior system.. but dreamcast was definately a fine little machine... Microsofts first console project aswell :) they helped sega build that machine.. it ran off of windows ce base system.. and if you look at the Dreamcast controller, and the original xbox controller.. you will see many simularities..

anyone getting a xbox or already having one.. should definately check out the "Controller S".. much more compact (still a bi bigger than ps2), feels more solid.. buttons are spread out better.. not diagnal.. which fucks up alot on the original controller...

they originaly said they wanted to keep the cube around for 8 years before they developed their next system but now that xbox2 and ps3 have been announced they have changed their mind.

i wish they would just go ahead and develop software only. my gamecube is gathering dust due to the severe lack of good games.

You are generally correct sir, but at the same time not.. There is a large selection of very adult games for the Xbox.. and more forthcoming.. I just rented the Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball.. and let me tell you.. definately not for kids.. the cutscenes are very seductive and sexual.. aswell as choosing bikini's to your liking.. shaking boobs.. and the best damn models ever for any game... (not bsing you here.. not the best game ever.. but the models are absolutely wonderful).. hell. the opening scene has a scene of one girl slipping a strawberry into another girls mouth.. the finger stays in a bit longer... :p
others include Dead to Rights, Splinter Cell, the upcoming MAFIA (earlier released for pc, but will be coming out for ps2 aswell), among others I can't bring to mind right now...

I am not arguing that xbox is better in any fasion.. I want a ps2 aswell.. but for an overall home entertainment addition.. xbox definately has its hardware advantages in dvd playing and music copying abilities.. (ps2 has problems with a few dvd's.. aswell as a slightly lower dvd resolution). both system are very great, and I recommend you get whichever suits you better though.

Can someone give me site to download ROM's from? I've got the SNES emulator, but I'm having a fuck of a time finding games.
Thanks.

As I stated earlier go to Kazaa (well kazaalite). 150 SNES roms in one zip file there. Otherwise this spanish site is about the best SNES rom site there it. Even if you don't speak spanish you should be able to figure it out.

i've been getting mine off of kazaa. do you want super punchout?

Doh! I forgot about Kazza. Thanks boys.

And I just got super punch out off a website...looks like a cool game :)

not counting the PC, ghost recon came out for the xbox first and is the only version to offer online play..

splinter cell is going to the ps2 in march i think.. its supposed to go to the cube too but the date has been pushed back and there are rumors it might be canceled.

sega channel?

yeah we had it down here in the south, all yo uhad to do was turn it to channel 4 then turn on your sega.then you would get sent to a screen that had a choice between about 20 different games.the games changed about everyweek.

that was the good ol' days

They do kick ass!!! My brother has over 700 games. I love super punch out on super nes. I can get to mad clown but I can't beat him.

Well I'm wasting a whole lot of time playing Super Punchout again. Thanx. Anyone else here in their late 20's/early 30's remember Punchout in the arcade? It was always one of my favorites.

was that were you would hold the two stick like things in your hands and then you fight the computer?

my nintendo is part of my cardio

I realized I had the running pad and the track and field game, now I get exercise and get to play video games for hours on end

two birds-one stone :fro:

Nope. But I know the game you are talking about. I don't remember the name though. It's pretty fun and a decent cardio workout too. Punchout had a joystick and a big red knockout button.
