GMAT'S anyone?

Anyone here take the GMAT test? If so what did you think of it? What kind of student were you in college?

I took it about 4 years ago, after i got my psychology BA.. i prepared for quite awhile for it so wasn't that bad. The analytical writing part was the biggest bitch

I've taken it numerous times.

The math was the hardest but the easiest to prepare for.

My best advice is prepare ahead of time and just relax the day of the test.

I had 4.0 GPA in college and I am a dork inside so IMO preparing for it and taking it was pretty easy.

if you are good with logic, it will come easy to you

i was an ok undergrad. . .i was a stellar grad student. . .i did pretty good on the gmat. . .i just used one of those yellow, cliff-notes lookin' books to study for it. . .

digimon---why such a difference as a student for undergrad and grad? I am probably going to take it and worried about time. I bought a GMAT book review with practice tests and instructions similar to the Princeton Review book. Also, do they allow you a calculator?

I have to start taking prep classes for the GRE's soon.

I am a good student - 3.7 GPA, double major, minor, and language.....

but I am a horrible standardized test taker. I get really bad anxiety about it.
I could pick a different major in my field to do the combined MA/BA and not have to worry about it, but it's not exactly what I want so...... but good luck to you on them!

Some books were much better than others.

I cannot remember all of the brands that I used but I remember Kaplan was decent. So was Princeton review was OK. There was once, something like ACR or ARCO (I think it was ARCO) and the tests were way to easy and the book sucked.

I would definitely head to the gmat official site and get the old official tests. Those helped a bunch. I did the same with the LSAT and the official tests and guides were the best.

Good luck!

I took it in 01 and had a 4.0 in undergrad. Hard test... takes 4 to 6 hours.. I recommend going to a weekend cram course...

I'm a 3.5 gpa in college and got a 700+. You must study steadily in order to do well. If you come in cold, then you will get killed. If you are good at logic, then you'll do well on the verbal section.

i think they call it "maturity". . .i'm in remission now, though :)

i don't remember being allowed to use a calculator. . .i took it in like 1994. . .

705. I am glad we talked about those prep courses. they worked out quite well.

I feel that the book I have is pretty good, which is the 2008 Kaplan addition--what could the prep classes teach that this book does not? Like many of you said, the verbal is logic and the math is a matter of studying and practice---not trying to make the preparation sound easy, but just wondering...
