Gmail Drive questions

any one here use a gmail drive?

how does it work? how do you access files? do your files have a url that can be accessed from anywhere?

google is behind on this technology, online storage of documents has been available from HP and stuff for photos and videos.
This looks like a way to take advantage of the free gmail storage. Its not incorporated as say 1-view is, but thats the only one to put it all together yet, just released a few weeks ago.
Google is slow to the market on this, perhaps in the future theyll make it intuitive. If you need online storage of documents then you might consider it since its freeware.
But windows media and mobile and 1-view are the market leaders in this arena to date.

its a freeware software download that can allow you to take advantage of the 2000mg storage free from google. Thats alot of emails, so alot of free storage that will go unused.
I have a problem with confidentiality of google mail and would not use this. And why, unless you are mobile really, why use it. Use a mobile windows program, just save alot of time and more secure

I'm just gettin my feet wet with Gmail...but I'm liking it so far. Alot better than some of the other crap out there.

Interesting... never heard about this.

... although I'm sure, if it's moderately successful, we will start hearing more.

Its the wave of the future, this is the joint venture of Microsoft and the PocketPC/cellphone I just bought. I bought it b/c of the investment Microsoft mobile is making in the features. Its for mobile professionals, have access to all of your documents, music, media, anywhere you are at, see demos, you'll see startrek like features to it

gmail scans your emails and tailors google ads for you. Kinda shady and google is not to fond of personal privacy and ownership given its history

Hmm... my entire city here is wireless-enabled, so I'm guessing that's why no one seems to be into this kinda stuff. They just stuff their laptop into their backpack.

Portland downtown is also wifi, but with alot of dropouts. Thats the problem with wifi as the experts say. Thats why gsm/gprs through the celltowers is taking over, same with the verizon data service. I.e, being a mobile person, you inevitably leave the city you are in, so getting broadband through cell towers is more efficient. Time and access to files eliminates huge problems. I work outside of the wifi system but really, the wifi network sux and it leaves you open for attacks, same with people who leave ther bluetooth open. I always thought about taking over someone's laptop and screw with them.

But, for me, Im up on the third floor of a hospital, Im not going to walk downstairs for my laptop. Its the medium for a pda and then also cellphone and replaces an IPOD.
Ive been in the gym with a cellphone and IPOD but cant listen to music waiting for my beeper to go off b/c I was on call. One device, handheld, I can make phone calls from my laptop.

Now heres the sweet thing, I can skype from my pocketpc internet connection and not pay for cellphone minutes. Kinda nice when you talk to Australia and its a better connection. So my pocketpc/cellphone skypes cheaper than what the cell company offers saving thousands on overseas call
