Glutamine one of the biggest rip offs in the supplement industry?

I personally like Glutamine, hell it might be a placebo effect but i think it helps with the aches

as a 54 year old male that has gone from a depleted immune system (5 years ago every heavy workout would result in some sort of respiratory infection) a large waist (44 inch) and declining strength levels i can tell you that glutamine is one of the most important (no, the foundation) of my now being able to have productive workouts (strength levels are about the same as about 20 years ago) - very much stengthened immune system (i did get the flu this year but the first time in years) - a waistline that had gone fro a 44 to a 36 and decreased bodyfat levels from probably 28 percent to about 17 percent - when used at night! (that is the key - just before bedtime) glutamine (in combination with arginine, lysine, orithinine) will help with the proper sleep cycles and stimulate the body to release some natural hgh helping with the recovery process - now that is the foundation but other things are necessary but glutamine is very, very important...
Great to see someone else taking arginine and ornithine before sleep. Do you take the glutamine with the other three or leave a time-gap? I've been taking my glutamine about half an hour before the arginine/ornithine and then leaving another half hour before my bedtime drink, leaving me with an hour's wind-down at night.

I've never tried lysine. I'll have a read-up on it.

aren't most of the stuff on the market bunk anyways...Take a good look at the bodybuilders of the 70 and 80s....They didn't use any of this crap and look that the bodies they built...

I'm sure some of this stuff has its place in the market but the last people you want to take advice from are the ones that are pedaling it or have friends who are pedaling it...That goes for almost everything...

I just read a good thread on "another board" about liveraids...milk thistle and what not...Some reports state that milk thistle is the last thing you want to take when on gear(orals esp)..That its total crap and can actually help block what the orals are supposed to do..That the best thing to use is just plain old antioxidents and plenty of them or something like that and that if your prone to have high liver levels, you shouldn't be taking gear anyways and that liveraids aren't gonna help ya....

I don't know, for every 5 articles on the pros of any supplement their is at least 1 that finds the supplement worthless....

I think for pure muscle building, look to the past and you can't go wrong with just plain old food and plenty of anti-oxidents..

Don't forget tons of sauce, too. There's little to be gained for the 'normal' person in looking at the supplement habits of professional bodybuilders whether now or back to the 70s. It's almost impossible to remove the the effects of two to three grams of supplemented testosterone, nandrolone and similar molecules from the equation.

Milk thistle is known to be suboptimal for 17AA orals and Tyler's Liver Detox is considered more suitable in that case. You could probably make up your own concoction of anti-oxidents but we're drfiting away from the amino acid discussion here.
