I have a pair of training gloves but never manage to use them because I feel more comfortable. I do get those rough callouses though.

Eeek.

I don't use gloves because I want my hands to adapt and strengthen. I had blisters once or twice then i got callouses and i haven't had any discomfort since then.

NO gloves for me, I've had callouses for years, but I like the feel of the metal gives me better grip..

Those callouses in the pic aren't bad at all man... i can't even remember when mine looked that nice :) Wait until your whole hand is rough from grip training and heavy loads :) damnnn

It's just so weird to me when i walk into my gym, 97% of the people are wearing gloves. It's trendy for them i guess. specially now with the new people coming to the gym.

when i started lifting, i never wore gloves. then i got sick of the callouses and bought a pair. now, i never go to the gym without them. i think i have a much better grip with the gloves.

i use the dirt on my gloves as a gauge for how often i work out instead of the size of my callouses. :)

And bruises across the heel of your hand from benching! haha, I love it...

also, some women like the rough hands. how's about it ladies? any of you prefer rough hands or nice and softish like a virgin?

No virgins for me thank you...I'll take the rough hands! I don't want a guy with softer hands than me!!!

I don't use gloves...I have a pair that have been hibernating in my gym bag about a week after I bought them! Having small hands only makes it harder to grip with gloves on.

no need for gloves your grip is not good. just have rough hands or calluses. gloves are a marketing item for newbies.

gloves for me (because I work w/very conservative/wealthy clients & to them callouses look unprofessional on women...haha)

Haha- got to love chicks with small hands (no offense to your man)

Funny story- one of my buddies was out visiting- the guy can move some decent weight back when we played ball together in college... anyway, out of the blue my wife goes "dude your hands are little girl hands!" she held hers up to his and they were the about the same size!

LOL- he was embarrased as hell (FYI, he was a 280lb D Tackle in college) no one ever noticed his small hands before...

I know, that's one of the least things people notice. I usually notice guys with small hands when I shake hands. I know a couple guys but wouldn't tell them straight on their face about their tiny hands. I'd feel bad making them self-conscious about it if they don't know about it. Just like people don't notice my weird-ass thumbs. BEHOLD:

Looks like that thumb needs to be circumsized!!!!!!!!!

Had callouses from when I was 10 year old playing on bikes and all that. +knife wounds, bottle wounds and tips off fingers cought between bike chain + cogwheel all that by about 11 years old. Bit them off if you don't like them. :p

you say that now, but my hands used to be so rough my GF wouldn't let me touch her.

I wear gloves and I still have mildly rough hands.

No gloves just chalk.

Word.

I have worn gloves recently though. It was so cold in my garage that the bar made my hands ache. I tried them for one workout, and will never do it again.

No gloves if you want good grip strength especially for sports. The glove weakens your grip because it disrupts your kinesethetic awareness i.e. you don't grip as hard because you don't feel the bar.

Callouses are not much better if you compete in Olympic lifting or strongman events because the rotation of the bar can actually rip the callouses off. when I went to the USAW to learn Olympic lifts these guys actually use a small razor to slice the callouses off and they use hand cream to keep their hands soft. They do chalk up before lifting

S

crazy shit man. I remember seeing one of those strongman dudes, and his right hand's callouses ripped off and you could see the underskin. it was fucked, and he didn't finish the contest. but i am glad mostly everyone doesn't use gloves.

Thats why the Olympic guys & some strongmen shave off the callouses and use hand lotion. If it rips off in competition they can't continue

always with the gloves, they help get me in the mood and i don't have to worry about cold bars, sweaty palms or the weakness of the skin interface
i still have callouses even though I use hand cream a couple times a day (they get pretty dry)

You really WORRY about that?

I train in my garage with no heat, no air, no insulation, no machines. It was 15 degrees out there tonight and the last thing I was worried about was the callouses...lol.

Do they have commercial gyms in Kentucky? You should go to one of those that has heat.

I wear gloves. My hands sweat and slip otherwise (no chalk at my gym), plus my last BF didn't like the feel of my "manly" calluses touching him.. ;)

I don't wear gloves because I like to feel the bar. My wife doesn't like the callouses at all. I tried to explain to her about why I don't wear gloves, but she is a normal person and does not comprehend what we do.

My hands are actually pretty soft. I use lotion on them 2x a day and vaseline makes some creamy products that work really well too.

You can use an emryl (sp?) board as well...

Why????? Why in the world would one do THAT?

LOL...One tends to burn up no matter how cold it gets.. Sometimes I will have to turn my furnace down just to keep from getting a heat stroke.

I use gloves because they have built in wrist wrap, with my wrists being the only weak joints in my body. Also, a good heavy deadlift feels like its ripping the skin off my hands, so maybe i'm just a wussy.

Most women don't like a rough or calloused finger in their pussy...that why I workout with one glove on and one glove off. :FRlol:
