Giving up?

This board is so great! Just when I feel like throwing in the towel because results are slow .....I read a post and get remotivated! Thanks all for your inspiration - Daisy and Sassy!

Keep it comin jkmom! It only gets better.

I'd throw in the same comment-- I've been dragging ass for like 2 yrs and its like I finally found my metabolism again, got settled into a new job & house, found a chiropractor who is working miracles w/ my "lower back tendonitis and rotated pelvis". I might actually drag out my thong bikinis again this summer ....

Hahaha, I wish I could say the same as well... I have an appointment to get my bodyfat measured tomorrow morning... I continually wonder, "why do I do this to myself?"

Thanks you guys! I waiver between never wanting to pick up a dumbell again and just going back to running. I was all of 90 pounds and everything fit! Now I am muscular - weigh a ton and nothing fits!!

I feel the same. There are some days (okay, weeks) when I feel like leaving this board, abandoning fitness entirely - mainly because I am so bored of it after years and years and years..... seen it, done it, etc.....

But then something happens and I get totally remotivated. It is usually because someone posts pictures or discusses their results...this helps me get motivated again! :)

I'm sure there are times when we all want to give up, because the dieting and training is alot of hard work. But nothing is ever handed to you in life, you have to work hard to accomplish your goals no matter what they are. When it comes to training it's difficult for us to notice changes in our bodies, since we see them everyday.

Just as self-motivation you might want to try to take pics of yourself every month so you can visable see some changes, I know this works for me.

I also would like to add that the women on this board are very motivating, and supportive to each other, and that's great to see.

It's funny, i just told another bb who competes at the gym just last week that i feel like throwing in the towel. It is hard, the dieting , training, improving goals like increasing mass or decreasing bf, etc. He told me that its in your blood and what else would you do? It would be strange never to pick up a db or hold a bb ever again. It would be very foreign for me in the end. And to think of all that hard work that a person puts into it, it truly is an investment when you think about it. It's an investment that no one can take away from you after years of very hard work, because its yours. And it also helps me when you hear that alot of people don't like exercise anyway and when you are a bb, in fitness, etc. you are in the elite since it is so obsolete. And when you accomplish your goals and made gains in the different areas, there is so much to be proud of too. That keeps me going and not giving up and this board and all the comments. Also, if i don't get into the gym after a week or so of layoff, i get depressed so the training and cardio helps me feel better. There are too many benefits on why to continue than to give up so i try to remember all these plus others i ddn't include. :)

I go thru phases where I get unmotivated -- like right now -- haven't been to the gym since Thanksgiving week..... starting to miss it..... but nothing has re-motivated me yet....

If it makes you feel anymore normal I've been a mess since roughly May/June (LOL just ask Shadow).

Don't feel like you need to give up - ebb and flow it's a normal state, constant is not.

Just do the best that you can and even if you can't bring yourself to train, or to diet the way you should know that you should never give up on YOU even if your expectations and inspiration went and took a holiday without you.

OMG! Thanks for all of the ecxellent response! I know I can nevef give this up - I have invested way too many years - I even have my mastesrts degree in this field - but I am discouraged at the "bulk" Going from a 90 pound runner to a healthy weight trainer is mentally tough! I know it is the right thing but ....

This is for jenscats5 on getting remotivated-
What if you go in to the gym and start out taking a pilates class or yoga, stretching class or something like that? They're a relaxation class and you wouldn't think of it as oh, i have to go in and lift and maybe do cardio and its alot of work. And these classes help so much with flexibility and relaxation and calmness too so maybe you need something different from your regular routine??? When i get days like that i try something simple like pilates because once you get to the gym you can ease back into your routine easier. Its just getting there in the first place that's the challenge.
