Give me a reason to give you this K.

I deserve it because I've been married 15 years, have 2 kids, ages 14 and 3 and managed to graduate first in my class and I'm hoping to get into law school. My son and I are also going to Africa for a missions trip this summer. We've been warned that they eat rats there, hair and all, and if that's what they feed us, then we are expected to eat it because they are giving us their best. So if eating a rat in order to do good for someone isn't deserving of karma, I don't know what is!

A missions trip? Are you going to preach?

Walli, yours isn't out of consideration thus far. I'm looking for something along the lines of your post. And that doesn't mean giving k to other people.

I'm looking for honest and selfless displays of charity towards other people. Now that it's taken 4 pages without anything posted worth giving a reward, now you know what I am looking for.

Let's hear it, what have guys you done for others without any self interest?

Ummmm. Well. Paramedic for about 8 years. Get paid but not nearly enough. Offered my boss money (several times) if he would just send me home.

It's my first one, so I'm not sure what all will be involved but yes, evangelism is part of it.

That's cool. I preached for 2 years in chile. It was a great experience. Much respect for those that preach their beliefs and want other people to find something better in life than what they currently have.

My mom was a paramedic for 5 years then became a fire fighter. She got paid lke $1/hr.

I can relate to this as well.

I also teach a second grade class every Wednesday at church as well as volunteering in the nursery and working every Sunday morning during second service Children's Church. I can't say that's really selfless though, because I truly LOVE it!

Chile for two years? Wow! I'll only be gone for ten days and the whole eating a rat thing is really worrying me. I'm more worried about the kinds of conditions we will find there. I have a heart for children and to see them suffering is going to be hard.

Thanks. We will definitely be getting shots and checking in with our Dr. to see what else we need to do.

Ok, so you know what I'm talking about. Not nearly enough money. Especially when you consider:

-I got a super close encounter with an active TB patient (he decided to spit in my face AND bite me)...so I was on isoniazid for almost a year

-organophosphate poisoning from an elderly lady making her own bug spray and fertilizer in her house. She was dead when we got there. We were dispatched on a "sick". She never mentioned WHY she was sick....so we were all standing around breathing the stuff in the house. Poor lil ol lady. BUT I FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO DIE. O-well. Got me off work for a week.

-aaannnnd there was the time I was stuck on the broken elevator with a psycho. Maybe you heard/read about it. The crazy guy trying to murder the police officer? It happened almost 2 years ago, but I was in court over it...again, maybe 3 months ago.

-My ambulance was infested with fleas on a fun, summer shift. It sucks walking around covered in flea bites while you are sweating ur ass off in tha summer.

-Plus, there was the time I had a head injury and a broken arm....at the same time. Good tymes.

BUT I signed up for it. It was all my choice and I am still glad for the time I have spent doing my job.
I vote the Karma go to Val. No contest.
