getting test tested (blood)

Just wonding if and how my fellow canadians are getting blood work done? I went to my Dr. and he gave me a sheet to get my test levels tested but told me no more. He basically said that he doesn't believe i should be doing it, heatlh care shouldn't be paying for it etc.etc.

I'd be willing to pay, no problem, but i can't find anywhere to get it done that doesnt' want my health card! The cloeset i've found is an STD clinic but don't expect they'll test anything execpt for the presents of STD's.

So... how are you getting blood work done?

Get a new Doc... it's there responsibility and should be there interest in keeping you safe... you pay your taxes for 'OHIP'... my doc has never given me a problem and has always been willing to help.

Thanks, but something that i forgot to add.

Two things. One, my Dr. isn't all the interested in helping which isn't that bad because, two, i don't want these test results recorded on my permanent record.

The information the test would give me would be nice, but i'd rather not have evidence of illegal activity (of any kind) recorded. I'd never admit to speeding, why would i admit or leave evidence of steroids.

Your records are confidential between you and your doc. He can not give them to anybody. Just find a new and more liberal Doc to see and you should be alright.
