getting smaller + weighing more + getting stronger...wtf?

I feel like i'm getting smaller but my weight is up on the scale by a good deal. I'm also getting stronger

whats up with this?

Key word "feel" like your getting smaller. Its really hard to see physical improvements when you see yourself everyday. Try taking some measurements and use those as a guide.

Muscle is denser then fat so the weight in muscle takes up less space than the same weight in fat.
 
well it also might be just different proportions that you're used to. for example, at one point i felt like i was getting smaller while gaining weight but i realized it was because I looking only at certain parts. my arms and lats shrunk while my chest, shoulders, and legs grew even more. just a thought.
 
can happen, too much volume/frequency reduction leads to a reduction in size, even if your lifts are going up.. try a month or 2 of a higher frequency/volume, lower intensity routine if that's the case

They are changes for the good. I had similar last year when a friend I'd not seen for a few months told me I'd lost a whole load of weight. I knew I was about 10lbs heavier than when I'd last seen him.

Trust the strength gains and the weight scale and your mind will catch up.
