getting ready for the fall

Haven't really done any DLs since i hurt my lower back in March... so i'm trying to build a good foundation and hit them back full force come fall. I'm also trying to build my lower back to get ready for GMs in the fall. I have never done GMs before so i want to have a strong foundation to start them.
Today for the first time i tried the movement.. using the bar only. I figured i would find it much more uncomfortable, but i actually enjoyed the movement. Didn't bother adding any weight on the bar.. worrying that i would hurt my back. Let me tell you this... even with just using the bar and going extremely slow (3 seconds down, 2 up)... along with hyperextensions... my back got sickly tight... and this was all before my back workout, LoL.
Next week i might add 10s on the bar... oh man i can't wait! ;)

I would work your way slowly with your back, as it seems you are doing. I suggest doing some light hypers and reverse hypers (if you have a machine). Just take them real light and get a good stretch.

Take it slow, take it easy... but add slight amounts of weight each week until you regain some strength.

I'd also be careful with the good mornings. They're a GREAT exercise, one of my favorites, but if you go too heavy too fast, you might be asking for trouble.

Good luck.

Pretty much what i'll be doing. I intend on adding 10-20 pounds a week max on the GMs until it starts getting fairly heavy..
