the difference between men and women when it comes to getting over people is that women will get over someone very quickly as soon as they find a higher value man. the only other thing that comes into play is if their ex gets a higher or lower value girl than they perceive themselves as ie if a girl breaks up and gets a far better bf, and her ex gets a shitty replacement, the girl is quite happy. if she gets a shitty boyfriend and her ex gets a much better replacement, shes going to feel pretty shitty about the whole thing.
guys, on the other hand, are territorial. it doesnt matter if theyre fucking better girls, they still want their old girl too, and it simply takes time to get over as you rip out all these little emotional anchors. the only thing having lots and lots of girls does is keep your self esteem nice and high so you stay mroe attractive/emotionally healthy and dont beat yourself up over the fact that the girl you care about and have all this emotional investment in is basically getting fucked by a bunch of random guys
imo the trick is to develop relationships with the girls youre about to fuck. dont be a one hit wonder - keep the girls around, have multiple fuck buddies, and youll find that youll care about these girls also. it fills an emotional void, because seriously, huge strings of one night stands are pretty unfulfilling and sketch you out

Living with your buddies should help more than anything else. Hanging out with good friends will dull the sting of a breakup very quickly, if you've chosen your friends well.
