getting older-or better?

well bros,
i turn 40 in a few months(october) and
i finally can tell that im starting to get older. especially when im not on the gear. my lifts are about the same or a little less and im finding it harder to drag my ass to the gym after work. im also a lot more sore and more tired when i get done, and im seeing little aches and pains where there used to be none. im a fighter though, and i wont let this get to me. no matter how old i feel, the gym will always be there, and i will always drag myself in the door.
on the positive side, i know that there are bros on this board that are a lot older (and wiser:) ) than me. so i have to keep hangin if not just to keep up with them. i do feel that, for being 40 i am in pretty decent shape, 5-7.185 lbs and a bf% of 9-10. so all in all i guess im on the right track.
just want to thank everyone for listening to the sob story and hoping you guys will understand me venting a little.

i just meant that there are some very smart older bros on this board, and i hope to be one of them someday....................:D

i do agree sometimes older definitely does not mean wiser.

i hear ya buddy ,i sure have my share of aches and pains...when we were young we could take time off from the gym and snap right back, now its way too stressful on the old bod to be doing that...

Well, I disagree - sometimes older is better. Mature muscle is denser and more vascular. Older lifters have experience on their side....I know what works and what doesn't from years of trial and error, and older guys have more time and money to put into the lifestyle.
At 52, I don't think I have ever been better.

MOD, you old fart, mail me, when you get time off from fighting that battle.....good stuff...heh, heh.

No shit. Look at that avatar. You are stoked, brother; and a wealth of knowledge. Bump for Ironmaster.

"yea well you know what they say, the older the berry the sweeter the juice."
"man its the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice"
"yea well yea...she blacker then a motherfucker too."

sorry quote just popped in my head.

I'm 27 and work out with a guy who is 38.

My stats:
6'2"
210lbs
10% bf

His stats:
5'7"
175lbs
7% bf

Last Saturday he put up 365 on bench. More than twice his body weight and more than I can move. He is just as strong or stronger than I am in almost every area with the exception of one or two. Its inspiring to work out with the guy.

im 36 and after a life time of lifting it was the ever decreasing poundages that got me on the gear.

now 6 weeks into deca/dbol stack im lifting life time bests.

one way to roll back father time i guess.

40 is not old

if i could go back in years, it would be 40 what i want.
The ideal "in between years". Not young, not old.

hey everyone lets give it up for the legends on this board without them we would be going through the trial and error. they know what works and without their knowledge we couldn't do shit. stick in there guys and please never stop because if you do then we will soon, be a great role model for evryone young and old. thanks guys.

That's very well put, gorilla. That's what the brotherhood is about.......sharing the knowledge and perptuating the lifestyle.
Beats the shit out of looking ordinary, doesn't it.
BTW, thanks to all for the kind words. I know the hours of pain you guys all endure in the gym....its rewarding to have the results recognized, isn't it?

@ 41

Bottom line, your getting older.

But look at this way, if you were not in the gym busting ass, or supplimenting (eith type), think of how fpucking bad you would lqqk and feel.

I know that right now, when I take even a three week break, getting back in the saddle is a bear. However, if I keep it going, I have run rings around 22-25 yo dudes. Both in strength and cardio.

When yo attend your class reunion .... all the time in the gym is well worth it.

you guys are awesome!
the words of encouragement are well taken, and i cant thank you all enough, without this board............well lets just say that you guys will keep me goin and that i will never give in....................:)

ironmaster and jeff and big johnson.............you guys ROCK!

Hey join the club bro. I'll be 42 in September and I find that I'm enjoying being a young old guy. I'm in better shape now than ever. Attribute that to age=wisdom. I
know what works and what hurts.

the hell with that noise!!you get older ..you get better, you drag yourself to the gym day after day,you get a pain here, a pain there, but you still end up i nthe gym.keep up the good work, bro.kind of like wine,eh?!hahahah..........
