getting gear at an apartment

I'm planning on getting a shipment of goods next week from an international source to my apartment. Since I'm always at work, usually when I get packages my roommate picks them up or they leave them in the rental office. My question is, if they were tracking the shipment and planning on busting me by making me sign for it, could they try to make my roommate or the apartment manager sign for it in my absence?
I only used initials as the name I want it shipped to, not my full name.

Next time use a fake name.Customs & the post office become alarmed sometimes when they just see initials.

Tell your roommate not to answer the door & let them take it to the office.

Shit...this is my first time going international and I didn't realize that initial thing. Well its a pretty small shipment , so even if customs does get it they probably wouldn't try to bust me would they? Do they usually only try to bust people getting the bigger packages they seize?

Yeah, initials are definitely a bad idea. Fake names are the way to go... don't think anyone's tried using John Doe, thats pretty inconspicuous.

I really wouldn't sweat the whole bust issue, just as long as you don't personally sign for it, or your friend, you'll be good to go. You'll probably just get a seizure letter letting you know not to wait anymore.

Yes,,most likely if its a small order they will just seize it & send you one of those depressing letters. They only
go after those bulk orders..

So they CAN ask my roommate to sign for a package shipped to me (or my initials)? What would happen then if it is a bust?

Like I said tell him not to answer the door.Allthough im
not sure if he would be in any touble or not it is still best
to keep him out of it all together.

Try this in future

When ever you get a package always write Return to sender or unknown addresse or something like that, keep it inside by the door for a couple of days before opening it that way if its a bust it looks like it went to the wrong address and should make it harder for them to arrest you and also easier for you to get out of it.

If it's a large enough order and you're under suspicion a fake name will do jack shit. Do you really think writing John Doe on a package that was meant for you is going to clear you of all guilt. The feds are much smarter than that...
