Getting bigger, need more rest and off days?

I was just thinking about this and it just made a little sense to me that as we continue working out balls to the wall and getting bigger and putting on more LBM, wouldn't it be favorable that in order to keep encouraging gains as experienced lifters we should workout a little less frequently and incorporate more rest days (to allow for more food intake throughout the week)? I was thinking that this could be especially useful for those times when cycling and gains seem to stagnate with all the new added bodyweight and not being able to chown down enough food as you keep getting bigger with the increasing calorie requirement to gain LBM. What do you guys think?

funny thing you mention that, because i hurt my wrist about a month or so ago, and it's been really hard to work out, finally about a week and a half ago i decided to take a week break to give it time to heal. still sore, been almost two weeks since i've been in the gym, and for some reason when i looked at myself earlier today i swear to god i look bigger and fuller than i have in months !!!

how weird is that ?

I haven't juiced in over a year and a halk now. I am very strong again. I have found that since I stopped using Test, it takes more time to recover. If I don't take that little more time...my lifts go down, not up. However, I know my own body alot more now and I only squat every second week, but man my hammies and quads are massive.

If you're not resting or eating enough you're putting a ceiling on your gains. So what you're thinking is correct.

As you get bigger spend less time in the gym. Get there, train hard and go home where you can eat and rest.

A nice week off can do wonders for you. It even has a term.

"strategic deconditioning"

If you aren't already, take a week off every couple of months to rest injuries, re-charge the CNS, and get your head clear so you can keep hitting it hard.
