George Spellwin could you explain the logic behind the moderator position?

I think RyanH is a strange guy, but he likes to argue and i think he respects all opinions...

I highly doubt there is any logic.
The people recently adopted as Mods very likely were the few people who wrote George about the board...granted it was likely in a self-serving, ass-kissing manner. The squeeky wheel syndrom. They addressed their concerns and suggestions to George and seeing as the last batch of mods had less than 60% activity....it's better than having 40% of nothing.
If you looks at the spectrum of new mods, especially on the anabolic board, it's a rather poor line-up (no offense). But I think it's funny that ya'll get tiffed about the mods on the chat board....afterall it IS a chat board.
The most that needs to be removed or edited would be source posts. Not really looking at a lot of power really. Oh and view IP addresses, which none of them could do anything with in the first place

I don't think mods can even view that with ubb. just admins. however, they could probably easily request it - but like you said, what would they do with it.

However, if George sees this thread he's going to crack up.

But let me get this straight. If none of the new mods 'expected' this. Then was the choice random? That sounds pretty silly. Not really dangerous, since being a mod is a lot like being a digital janitor...no real rights.

Ok, polling users is pretty random. Since there is no criteria for who can or cannot vote, the system leaves itself open for serious tampering; creating new users to nominate yourself, brand new users voting when they've read two or three threads etc etc.

Did the thought ever occur to you that though all of the elite board members had the chance to voice their opinions the opinions that carried THE MOST weight and THE ULTIMATE DECISIONS were not voiced PUBLICLY?
The last time I checked the vast majority of information whether it be valuable or frivolous IS FREE.
Though George is EXTREMELY TOLERANT and NEARLY BENDS OVER BACKWARDS TO ACCOMODATE THE MASSES.....MY PERSONAL OPINION - that is ME ALONE - is that all of you whiners oughtta be still. If you do not like the choice of mods, so be it. You have voiced your opinion and that's fine.
But for God's sake...if you do NOT like the way George runs things you can always frequent another board. I doubt you will find the diversity and wealth of information FREE OF CHARGE that you find here at eilte. Yes some of what goes on here is downright silly, but that DOES NOT NEGATE all of the serious accurate info that is dispensed on a daily basis.
When I was first made a moderator, I was stunned. Nobody asked me and I did not even think that I was REMOTELY qualified. Heck, I remember posts congratulating me and I thought it was a joke! There was only one other female mod at the time - TEXAS GUNS....and I did NOT KNOW THING ONE about a/s. I still have very limited knowledge about that particular topic......but still George and the some of the other mods before me felt that I had much to offer and would carry out my responsibilities well. Have I committed any errors in judgement? Of course! Have I done a good job? I dunno, haven't seen a paycheck nor a pinkslip.....when I see one, I will let you know.
Having said that, I was and still am extremely pleased to moderate George's board. It is a task that though I can not always give my full attention to (a little thing called life gets in the way sometimes hehehee), is one that I do attend to gladly. The benefits that come with the position have surpassed my wildest imagination...but they can not be characterized easily as you get out of it what you put into it. There are no set "perks" to this position. There are no "magic" powers. We are only supposed to keep the schmucks at bay and try to help people out if and when we can....as those before us did.
Could we PUHLEASE just give it a rest already?

OK...so you are telling me that the supplements you purchase do NOT do what they SAY they are supposed to do? Are they cheaper quality and more expensive than what you buy at the local GNC or at any other place on the net?
I for one have seen MANY other sites that sell competing supplements promoted in countless posts...so what does this say?

George does do wonders. Runs a pretty good board and keeps it fresh by inducting New Skool mods every so often. He spends a good deal of time/money keeping the board running and updated.
But I don't think it's free. The e-mail address I use for this board is unpublished, I never use it in connection with any other sites. I run junkbuster for privacy and disable cookies. But I still get one or two fitness related spams daily (not including the cool mail [which I read] from Elitefitness). Selling addresses is a good way to make a little bit of cash on the side and there's nothing wrong with. But if you can profit off users, it's not actually free. If George doesn't do this, then I apologize, and you are 100% correct...but being 99% correct is good too

True dat Mr.Muscle... I think you would be a good mod for example... But Slices of Peach C´mon she´s just silly... And Shrebly? WTF? In a bad day she´ll delete all the posts she doesn´t like... The only way to explain this is the new QUOTA SYSTEM. Fonz for example seems allright to me... Chesty... Warik... And a bunch more... Bikinimom is a good female moderator for example (even though she tends to exxagerate things), sad that we don´t have anymore true female values here...

r00+ if you think that someone having your IP address is nothing to worry about send me your's and I'll show you just how much damage can be done. having someone's IP address is like having the key to their computer. Their able to see EVERYTHING you have in ALL your folder's (using the right software of course).

Now I almost always agree with your posts, and indeed I've used alot of the knowledge I've learned from your posts regarding womens issue's, but I think you've lost sight of the argument here. I'm not going to list them again, but if anyone's confused about the issue's here I suggest reading back over all the posts regarding the new mod's and you'll see a common theme run through them all. Go ahead and look people because I'm not repeating it all again.
I'm a big supporter of this site, however it's not the only great BB'ing site on the board there's plenty more so lets not go getting ourselves into a false sence of security here.
To me it just appear's as though the MODS are simply closing ranks here and any other argument or discussion with them on the subject is a complete waste of time.

Well, I really only know BigBuck and Shags...I think BB and Shags will be good mods, even though I don't like Shags.......other then that, the rest I either don't know or are twats...also, I forgot to add, Chesty will make a good mod too.....

Vernsen after reading again what I wrote about b'mom I'm taking a 5 minute breather at this point. I don't have a gripe with her, I love reading her post's as does my wife who doesn't even train and I'm sorry for cutting close to the bone with b'mom.
I'm going to sit back and see how this thing pans out, but I do think that the majority of member's here have a point in their objections to Ryans nomination.
