The Mitchell Steroid Report - A perfect example of why the Human Race WILL go extinct

I was sitting there watching T.V. when the Mitchell report was announced, and it seriously made me almost ashamed to be an American. Gee....I wonder whats wrong with the world today? Our tax dollars funded an investigation that took 20 months and cost 20 million dollars, and who's sole intention was to ruin the names of Major League Baseball Players who make Millions of dollars to entertain us. Mitchell is the lowest of the low, and has about as much integrity and respect for society as the shit stains on my underwear. Just the fact that he would concoct the idea that this investigation was something essential, EVER, and especially at this point in time, adds to the doubt I already had that human beings will survive as a race for another hundred years. There's a LONG list of issues in America alone, that could have used a 20 million dollar investment, and 20 months of intense focus, and steroid use by anyone, especially MLB players, does not even make it in the top 10,000 of that list. The planet that sustains our very exsistence is giving us signs that we are off course, yet we still focus our energy on things that DO NOT MATTER. Our government is a joke, our law enforcement is a joke, and that's not an opinion my friends. It's a fact that is proven every day by actions. If you have ever wondered where you would RANK on a scale of human intelligence and intellect, this is the perfect test. It's as simple as this....anyone fully conscious and aware of current circumstances who watched this report and didn't feel the demorilization that it should invoke, would not even qualify to be ranked.

What makes you think your tax dollars paid for the investigation? Last time I checked, George Mitchell hasn't been a member of Congress for over a decade. George Mitchell was asked to conduct his investigation by MLB, which Mitchell has been involved in for years. I believe he has even been rumored to be next in line once Selig steps down, to run the league.

yeah jesus, what hypocrites. the game is about $$$ and they try to pretend its about preserving the heritage of the game. jesus christ give me a salad.

nothing makes me more upset than this kind of bullshit. we expect nothing but the best from these players who are playing for yes, MONEY, and then people are somehow ashamed when they do what is necessary to compete.

it's just absurd. every athlete in almost every sport has done something either illegal or unethical in order to gain an edge, its part of the game. get the fuck over it.

Yeah, let them all cheat. Why the hell should we bother watching? If they wish to use steroids, create a league where they are legal to use. As it is right now, their contracts say, they will follow the rules of the league. Right now, the rules state that gear is prohibited.

The example I like is, how would you feel if someone who was using gear, entered a "natural only" bodybuilding competition?

I think ripping on Mitchell is pure B.S. He was hired to do a job.

He din't necessarily have anything to do with the rules or the laws in place. Blaming Mitchell and calling him those names establishes you do not know what is going on. Blaming him for conducting this investigation is just as ignorant for blaming a cop for enforcing the speed limit in a school zone.

Additionally, gambling is illegal, point shaving is illegal, and throwing games is illegal. If he was investigating players throwing games and making money off of it 99% of us here wouldn't complain.

Last time I checked steroids are illegal substances and using them is prohibited in professional sports. Conducting an investigation is nothing more than checking to see if the rules are being followed. Mitchell didn't even create these rules.

If you or anyone else here is displeased with the reports outcome then write to your elected representatives and tell them you are pissed. Tell them to change the laws. Your elected representatives are the ones to blame and the only ones who can change all this.

To be honest, I believe Mitchell recommended to MLB, not to punish those who were named in his report and are still active players.

You are correct in the fact that the investigation was privately funded, but our tax dollars have been put to use somewhere along the lines during this whole scandal. Here is the point, even if 1 cent of taxpayers money was used, that is 1 cent too much. I'm glad you decided to read the WHOLE post, miss the WHOLE point, then take the ONE little sentence that you recognized to not be entirely true and waste 5 minutes typing out a pathetic reply to give any type of credit to an investigation that: 1) Puts even more bad publicity on the very thing we discuss on a day to day basis through this board. 2) Is a complete WASTE of money, time, and resources that could be used on REAL issues that effect our very livelihood. 3) Nobody gives a flying F*CK about. Now....Nobody on this board gives a sh*t who is taking over Bud Selig's job when he steps down. Why don't you re-read my post, as many times as it may take you to extract the point I was making. Then when you see how weak and unnecessary your reply was, you can delete it, and I'm hoping replace it with something that gives the reflection that you at least have a small concern on how the report may effect us as bodybuilders. If you can't do that, then I will gladly post a link to a political discussion board for you, because that's where your reply belongs.

Here we go....First of all, when I look at your name, then down at your post count, then at the date you registered, I automatically know that your the type of person that just couldn't wait out the time it takes to actually be considered a Vet on this board. So you came up with "The Old Vet", you paid to be a platinum member, then you posted stupid comments like the one above, in order to get your post count as high as possible in order to gain respect. Sorry bro, but at first glance, and especially after a post where you defend someone who is making a way of life that you, as a member of this board, should love and not want to see jeapardized, I would say that you are more than likely an informant. Seen it a dozen times on this board. If that isn't the truth then I at least got the first part right on your impatience and ego. Mitchell being as big a part of Baseball as he is, could have, and should have declined the offer to handle the investigation. Oh, and I'll be sure and take your advice on going to my senators. Your living in a fantasy world if you were serious with that suggestion my freind. Nice try bro. Now who's next?
