George - About the Sig Pics

Would it help things to maybe put a 500 post quota on enabling a registered user to have a sig pic. Then you wouldn't have people creating a gillion accounts and using all kinds of band width. This would be even more of an incentive to stick with just one name. Just a thought...the sig pics were a great expression of personality.

Yeah...sig pics are a good expression of personality and interests but all I can say is that thank god george abolished them. Too many people went way overboard with them...case in point Bill Clinton. God forbid anyone on 56K dialup try to open one of the threads and wait 8 years just to view it because they have to download 4000 people's sig pics of their favorite weapon of mass destruction, favorite automobile or close up of their nose hairs. That and it gets tiresome having to scroll down 5 times to see one person's response. There were maybe a handful of signatures on here worth viewing repeatedly or taking up so much space. Now you people can practice your ascii art and draw your signatures with letters and numbers instead of actual pics.

I agree totally with everyone here. It would be a good Idea to have a sig enabled at 500 post along with your avatar, but just like the avatar limit it to one picture only and limit the size of that picture to the same 250k limit that a personal elite fitness web site allows.

Now if only I could get some one there to fix my avatar problem . . . . . . .

Ya, me too!! I got used to identifying who a member was by their sig pic and never noticed their screen handle. I would just pull up a thread and say oh ya there is what's his name with that obese guy in his underwear sitting on the floor. Now I guess I'll have to learn everyon'es name Damn, now I'm going to have to post a bunch of nonsense 95 times a day, so I can get an avatar in 6 weeks like that dude Cozmo j/k

George, I TOTALLY AGREE with YOUR decision to run YOUR BOARD that way YOU want it.

These sigs pics have gotten way out of hand by idiots who dont know how to edit them down to a reasonable size, or place them on fast servers so that the whole baord is not slowed down.

If you do allow them back on for 500+ posters, then limit their file size, please. These 300 k, animated sigs are freegin ridiculous.

That was only meant to be a max size not a required size. My last Kryp2o sig was only 15.7k in size and looked sweet.

I am with Varnsen and Manny on this one......... give the post count to at least 1000.... and people are right about identifying people by the sig pics..... (Imagine Mustang without Triple H?) its just not right.......and I just posted a thread a few days ago about sig pics...if you reply to or start a thread...uncheck the "show signature" box after your first reply... I thought this would be common sense..but I caught a little flame for it..and now look..they are gone...George..the sig pics are important..maybe there is away to limit them to 1 post per thread and also to only members who have over 1000 posts... just my thoughts

only 10 kb. George, why don't you lower the possible size? Every picture can be clear enough. I just think that some members don't know how to do this. So if they still would want there signatures, .........simple compressed Jpeg (jpg)
