Gear and Cancer

Temple

New member
A long time ago someone on here ( I believe it was Big Easy - sorry if it wasn't you) said that one of the considerations when deciding to use gear should be the increased incidence of cancer. Is this the case and what types of cancer are we talking? I have been having some bladder problems (have to pee all the time) and the doc told me if I came back one more time for dilation in the next 6 months they were going to check me for bladder cancer.

Liver, prostate, very very rarely Wilm's Tumor (kidney).

Have never seen much evidence for anything else.

Many reasons for increased urgency.

Temple..the biggest problem with using gear is that many users never have themselves medically checked before they start using.

I for one do not believe that steroids CAUSE cancer. I believe they can exacerbate pre-existing conditions. Many people are unaware of existing lesions or tumors/cysts and blaming steroids is an easy way to avoid blaming yourself for not having bloodwork done prior to using.

Steroids have a lot of good properties if used correctly and I wish more of our elderly would use gear to help maintain and improve their hormonal stasis.

You ever see the movie The Matrix? When Neo goes to se the Oricle, in the conversation she says,"oh, and don't worry about the vase..." He then bumps into a vase and breaks it. He asks how she new he would break the vase she says, "don't worry about it, but whats realy going to cook your noodle later is wondering if you would have broke it if I hadn't said anything...."

I think people who are diagnosed with cancer while on AS would have had cancer whether they were on them or not. There is to my knowlege NO research linking AS with cancer.

I'd be more worried about tanning, but muscles just don't look good without a tan so what the hell?????

Thanks for the replies. I do not think that I have bladder cancer but I thought that perhaps I was taking my doctors concern over the increased urgency thing too lightly. This started in the middle of my first ox cycle and although I don't think the ox caused it I thought that perhaps it exacerbated and existing condition as someone else mentioned. I think it is old age combined with fluctuating hormones (one of the causes my doc mentioned) combined with too much coffee which seems to irritate things.

I have had several concerns with various aspects of this before. It is hard to remember that it is your life. Is it more important to live a larger and leaner shorter life or a longer one? This is something that I have put a great deal of thought into...for the very same reason that you are talking about...but with myself.

When I was going through my little bout with cancer(testicular), I asked my doctor about the reaction AS would have on my cancer. This was after my surgery while I was going through radiation treatment. He stated that it doesn't actually cause cancer, but MAY help in it's acceleration. Which basically means they don't know, they're only speculating. I wouldn't worry about it too much myself. I was on a cycle while going through radiation treatment and have been cancer free for over a year...

There is only ONE steroid that has ever been linked with cancer (of the liver) and that is Anadrol, period.

As for existing cancer eg. prostate, well high levels of androgens are going to accelerate the growth of the tumor.

there are all types of growth factors in steroids and can cause problems... i too went to see my urologist after having peeing problems (getting up all the time at nite to pee) and he stuck a camera up my dick, and he DID find bladder cancer...so who the hell knows what this stuff is going to do to you or us in the long run..
