One reason it's cool for gay guys and straight guys to be buddies, is that they never find themselves competing for a girl. Neither one has to worry about the other "moving in on his territory".

If you've got a gorgeous babe of a GF and your best buddy's gay, you don't have to worry about him sneaking around, trying to nail your girl. It works out very well.

Many times in the history of Hollywood, including today, the husbands of beautiful actresses have insisted that their ladies's costars be gay. Less danger of an on-the-set romance.

I have a b/f now, and if I ever even thought about cheating on him, it would be with a woman, no guys are worth it!
