"Gay Masculinities"....

casavant

New member
I just came across this book and I think I'll check it out. It should make for some interesting browsing material.

I would also like to dedicate this thread to AnalAssPlorer. :D

I am gay. I am masculine. I play football. Just because I play it in better clothes than anyone else is not really an issue.

Yeah, well this book talks all about that aspect of gayness, so maybe I'll be enlightened. Although is has never seemed that odd to me that a guy could be gay and still have strong masculine traits.

Oh really...???

Hey, gay guys have great taste in clothes... I was at Lord and Taylor's in Chicago and one of the guys who worked in the Kenneth Cole section told me to get this shirt, pants... yatta yatta yatta because it would go good with my eyes and all the little girls would be "fawning" over me.

Well, the first thing a girl I knew said to me when I had this shirt on was "WOW, that shirt really brings out your eyes!"

I need some gay friends.. .they have the inside scoop on how to act civilized.

Greg Louganis?? masculine=NOT

great diver, but light in the loafers...

you just never know, cas................

i have spent my entire life in new orleans, running around in the french quarter, with family involvement in the music and the arts. perhaps i have been exposed (no pun intended) to a wider range of personalities and lifestyles than most of the guys/gals on this board.

there is NO correlation b/t masulinity (or lack of) and sexual orientation.

i am constanly surprised at peeps i know who are gay/straight/bi.

Agreed. Louganis is about as masculine as my grandmother. Same thing with Freddie Mercury IMO.

Would you consider Bob Paris masculine?

What about Alexander the Great?

whothefuck is Bob Paris?

and the only thing I know about Alexander the Great, is that, well, he was Great...

But a lot of those ancient rulers/conquerors loved little boys, and the like, right?

Don't know. Masculinity involves personality as much as anything, regardless of one's physical appearance or reputation as a ruler.

Bob Paris = Great Bodybuilder.

Yeah. He's written at least one book that I know of called "Gorilla Suit". He was one of those Frank Zane types as far as symmetry, but he had a lot more mass. He came out a long time ago and it caused quite a splash in the bodybuilding world, although I'm sure to everyone on the inside it was old news.

This book has some interesting insights. I was looking through it last night after work and I set it down to make some coffee. My roommate came in and saw it and after a second he said, "Dude....what are you reading a book about gay people for?" LOL.

And your answer was.....

I laughed and I said, "I'm gay, bro. I thought I'd already told you that......just playin'- I just like to read about different things to get different perspectives."

And he said, "Well, that would explain why you don't ever get any pussy."

LOL :D

I have a buddy who's gay. He's got the typical alpha-male look...nobody would ever guess he's into guys.

I went to this party with him one time, and got all freaked out 'cause there were only gay men there. I thought I was gonna get raped or something. lol He was like "Man, everyone here knows you're straight...look at the way you're dressed for god's sake." :lmao: That cracked me up.

Typical effeminate heterosexual and his stunning mate.

The boyfriend/husband looks ill.

He's one of the biggest assholes I've ever met. I interviewed the couple years ago, when they were claiming to represent the future of gay marriage, and Rod kicked me out of their hotel room for asking difficult questions. Even then, touring to promote their horrible book, "Straight from the Heart," they were already privately no longer a couple -- an iconvienient status for two claiming to be such perfect gay lovebirds with so much money to make from the pretense. They publicly "divorced" after they'd milked their charade of all the cash they could.

I believe Bob's latest project is a lifting book for the aging.
