Gateway or Dell?? Which is better?

Dell: just because they have better tech support

Gateway: their tech support sucks and its hard as hell to get a real person on the phone.
 
dell hands down.. it's a better product for a better price with better support..

and i do know a thing or two about computers..
 
ComCrap is the cable company. Don't you mean ComPuke when referring to the computer company?

A friend of mine with a ComPuke had his hard drive go and took it to the dealer to have it replaced. The computer would not boot up with the replacement drive, as apparently part of ComPuke's BIOS is on the hard drive rather than all it being on a ROM chip. He had a hell of a time getting it repaird properly. He swore he'd never buy a ComPuke or deal with CompUSA (ComPuka) as they pushed him into buying the machine in the first place and were recalcitrant in honoring the service contract.

When I was doing Server administration I found that Dell offered better products and the support is unbeatably. This is just my option!
 
Dell most definately. I have a Gateway myself which sucks ass. I have spent 3 seperate calls with Gateway in which I explain to them things they should know. They actually asked me what is Novell and client 32.

I've had a compaq for going on five years now. I've kept it upgraded and have had minimal problems. If this one ever dies, I'll get another one.

Between Dell and Gateway, I'd get a Dell, no contest.
 
pay me and i will build a better machine then the two put together and most likely half the price :D of the two dell seems to have the most favorable offers and stand behind there product better.

i am so in. better make lil' bow wow pay for them, too. i saw his house on mtv cribs and the benz that he can't even drive yet. i'll pawn his gold bugs bunny chain and matchin watch if i have to. can you imagine the game that would be laid down if we rolled out with two ballers like dell kid and bow wow? DUDE!!!

Very true, I built my home computer. However you pay for Dell support with the cost of the machine. So it is a trade off.

I prefer to build my own computer from scrap parts and such... I'm quite handy that way. :)

Consensus at work amongst the IT weaponheads is Dell is better. Nothing wrong with Gateway's hardware, but Dell's customer service is better. Of course, you are helping to pay for the stupid "Dude" commercials if you buy a Dell.

I will NEVER buy another Compaq again...they just have too much proprietary crap on them. I get a BSOD at least three times a week after something called CPQMLCK general protection faults. And that's just the start of it. This piece of crap is getting replaced as soon as I come back from vacation.
 
I bought my Dell laptop from the Dell website--It is a factory refurb with a full 3 year 24hour free replacement waranty.

I have had it for a year and have had not a problem one!:)
 
I like my Sony (PCV-RX590G) a lot. Although I would have preferred to have bought one from an American-owned company, the Sony was the only one I know of that has all those awesome A/V items. I got it in November; and so far (i hope I dont jinx myself here) have had no crashes or other problems.

My old H-P would have to be rebooted several times a day to keep up with memory as it would lose available memory with virtually every keystroke and crash about once an hour if not rebooted. The old H-P would crash evertime I opened the CD drawer if I was running Excel. Obviously, quality was job number none! (Suppose GM or Ford made a car that would stall everytime one used their left turn signal and required 5 minutes to restart??) That was the worst computer I ever used -- a real POS, and their customer support really bites! HP makes good printers; but I would never buy a CPU from them.
