games for nintendo gamecube - selection sucks, need help

young guns

New member
My parents got me a game cube for xmas. I didn't ask for it. I would've gone for an xbox or ps2 if I had my choice, but they just suprised me with this. So I need some suggestions on games to get. I've found the selection is pretty shitty compared to xbox and ps2. Seems like there are alot more young kid style games.

Some games I am considering are:

Resident Evil 4
Mortal Kombat - Deadly Alliance or Deception (when they finally release it)
Need for Speed Underground 1 or 2
Call of Duty: Finest Hour
Madden 2005
Tiger Woods Golf 2005
Rainbow Six 3
Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within
Red Faction II
Lord of the Rings: Third Age
Metroid Prime 2
Ghost Recon 2
Medal of Honor: Frontline or Rising Sun
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin

I don't like spending $50 on a damn game, and I don't want to blow alot of money on a bunch of games either. So I need to narrow down the list and really limit the new releases. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get Resident Evil 4. I had RE0 and I like it.

So any suggestions are welcome, and are by no means limited to the above list (although that's probably like 50% of the games available for GC). Thats just to give a better idea of what games I think look worthwhile. Even if you'd played them on another console, feedback would be helpful. The only real difference would probably be quality of graphics, which I'm sure GC is below both PS2 and Xbox.

Definitly Metroid Prime 1 or 2 (if thats your thing,I know its mine)

Also do you like the ZELDA series (ps-I thought windwaker sucks ass,I hate kiddie graphics) If so then be sure to get Ocarina of Time (gcube)

and if you can find it on ebay or somewhere buy The Legend of Zelda Colelctors Edition (gcube) (it was a special edition/promo) it has ZELDA 1 (NES) LINK (NES) Ocarina of Time (originally for N64) and Majoras Mask (I didnt like) all on 1 disc for about $30-$40 will be hard to find in stores so look online.

thats-if thats your thing

Also something to look into this year is the new zelda game (called simply legend of zelda, gay name)

It doesnt have that crappy kiddie look most gamecube and some ps2 games are taking (the anime/hand-drawn graphics) Its graphics from what they have released are the best I have yet to see for any game, and it seems to have matured quite nicely.

What matters most to me is the online component. For less tha nthe price of 4 games you can get an Xbox and Halo2.

However, the GC game that has fascinated me the most and would possibly buy a GC to player is Animal Crossing.

the Zeldas collector goes up and over 100 bucks on ebay

I have one I got for free, worked at a video game store and when we got the bundles in my manager gave a copy of the game to me and my coworker hehe

anywhooooooooooooooo gamecube really is an awesome system you just gotta know what to get and it depends on what you like

Metroid Prime 1 & 2
Mario games
Zelda 1 & 2(windwaker two looks absolutely incredible it will be out this summer)
Tales of Symphonia
Baiten Ketos
Skies of Arcadia
Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes
Resident evil 1 remake (phenomenol)
Resident Evil 4 is one of the best looking games on the market
Prince of Persia 1 & 2
