Gall Bladder Attack

Gymgurl said:
Anyone here ever have one and what did it feel like??

Dull pain high on the right side of your back, almost kidney high. Not sharp in my case, but insistent and "unclean" feeling -- a definite "something is not right!" kind of pain. I'd describe it as a burning feeling along your lower right rib in the back.

I rolled around trying to find a position that didn't hurt, tried antacids, nothing worked. Dragged myself to the hospital after two nights without sleep, and the doctor on call figured it out in about ninety seconds. Ultrasound confirmed it. They operated the next morning.

Laparascopic removal is not nearly as bad as the old "cut the patient in half" approach, though there is no guarantee they won't have to fall back on that. I actually drove myself home from the hospital (no, I should not have done that).

I miss the damn thing, though -- not having one plays utter hell with your digestion of fatty food.

I had gall bladder attacks starting 3 weeks after i gave birth to my son. Apparentyl women are most prone to these attacks during child bearing years..anyhow, i woke up feeling like i was having heartburn (or so i thought) but i had never had heartburn before and i thought wow how can so many people put up with heart burn pain like this it was horrible! Tight feeling in the chest and abdomen which filtered around to my mid back as well. I ended up puking and damn near p[assing out from the pain. I could not stand straight up. I rushed myself to the doctor the pain was tremendous. All i could do was moan and cry. The attacks would last 5-6 hours with no relief whatsoever until it ended. DOc told me the only treatment was surgery and until i had the surgery i would be susceptible to these attacks. I had about 3 more then i had the surgery and had my gall bladder removed. No pain since. BTW if you are having gall bladder attacks, stay away from greasy food and nuts. ANd try something like Zantac to relieve discomfort

That is kinda what I did.....really bad pain and puking acid and pooping.....so it could have been the flu but the pain was horrible
