Gaba And Ghb

I have read that through a fairly simple process, GABA can be converted into GHB (infact, I read it in the board archives here: http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/archive/2/2002/12/1/192033. Is this true and if so, does anybody know how one might go about this conversion or know where to get more information on the subject?

Nobody with any chemical etiquette whatsoever would throw out a statement such as "GABA can be converted to GHB" OR "MSG can be converted to GHB" without a single reference.. (I'm speaking on the link you posted, not what YOU posted). This is what I call "Pulp chemical fiction." Now, converting GABA to GHB with sodium hydroxide is even beyond fanatasy

You probably could convert GABA to GHB.. But the GABA itself, not to mention the other reagents plus glassware, would make it terribly un practical.

Those hell bent on working this out (at least in a mental masturbatory, certainly not practical way) should study the oxidation of tetrahydrofuran to butyrolactone...

GHB is gone.... For right or wrong... Without butyrolactone, it's entirely too much trouble and NOT worth the price of production.
