Funny Bodybuilding Ad

It's hard to believe, but this happened.

One of the most famous ads of all time is one from Charles Atlas where the 97 pound weakling, builds his muscles , beats up the bully and gets the girl. It's brilliant in its simplicity. It's the fantasy of every teenage boy. And it started what we now know as "bodybuilding." But...

What a lot of people don't know is that they tried several versions of that ad (all involving someone getting punched in the face) , until they finally settled on the beach bully one. But this one is my favorite. Apparently, they tried to sell the notion that "Atlas built muscles" are impervious to bullets!

we have come a long way from those days. today the kids all want to be skinnier versions of the zyzz look. the bird chest is back in style

speaking of beach I saw 2 20 year olds fighting on the beach the other day and it was funny. they both weighed 140 some pounds with 10" arms and they were going at it.. real tuff guys.

LOL! I still remember getting the Boy Scouts magazine that had Charles Atlas ads in it. I guess that goes back to the late 70's early 80's. I think I bought an Atlas book or some other "muscle building" instructional book.

I don't understand the Zyzz obsession. Sure he's ripped but I don't think he had much mass for the amount of gear he was using. I've always been more interested in how much weight I could lift than what I looked like (not that I would mind looking great)

well all that and he is dead.

I actually get it, when you are 20 years old you want attention, and you tend to be the most narcissistic you will ever be in life.. its likely you have yet to be truly humbled in life. so you want attention. its just like how chicks to go spring break and suck 20 dicks or flash their boobs at mardi gras.

for others they feel like they have something to prove to the world. a lot of that can be turned into a motivational tool. a pro athlete who gets cut by their team, signs with a rival and then plays against former team and has a great game.. we've seen this a million times .. human nature

And how do you know how much gear he was using?
The guy passed 5 years ago move on fellas.. I can't understand the obsession you guys especially Steve has with Zyzz
And what's the point of lifting decent weight if you look crap?
If you're bodybuilding it's all about how you look.

As a 24 year old . I prefer the aesthetic look and the main reason is because that's what gets the girls .. I could care less how much weight I push or how much I weigh .. Zyzz was a Little to light for me . Aesthetics to me is sergi Constance

I don't disagree with anything you are saying but I hope you will also agree its not a good thing that the younger crowd starves themselves and stims themselves to literal death. so it should be brought up and people reminded that it is very dangerous to follow this type of thinking..

I've noticed every under 25 year old in the gym walks in with an energy drink in their hand.. not good. you should fuel up for the gym with actual food, not stimulants. I know the supplement companies hate me for saying that but it is the truth

Bodybuilding is subjective

yes and I think Nelson's post went way over a lot of peoples heads, especially the younger guys. back then Charles Atlas was considered the most muscular man.. to today's standards he looks pretty average. but that is because we have progressed with PED's and knowledge. in those days most people did not have access to any gyms at all. boxing gyms existed but they were still very isolated. now there are gyms everywhere in every city in America. different era. I still remember growing up where I lived the first gym to be opened in my town I was in my teens, and it was a joke facility. no squat racks or any hardcore type training available. mostly machines and some dumbbells. if you wanted knowledge or gear, you couldn't go online for it.. the internet wasn't even available where i lived yet and forums like this were only a dream.

you young guys are so fucking lucky you have no idea.

Yeah definitely a lot more available resources and information on steroids .. Still to much bro science in it all . Things are always changing . It's all a science and there's always something new or a way to do it better .. I feel like I see the older guys stuck in what they believe a body builder should look like and how it all should be done and a lot of the younger guys think they know everything , but yeah definitely what the perfect body is and what ones goals are, are all very subjective .. Side note: I've noticed that everyone preferences the body that they feel they most can compare too...
