Really? Sorry for being nosey, but I didn't realize deployed soldiers make good money. Like 6 figure, buy a house, serious money? Or more like 5 figure, pay for college, money?

depends on rank...i made about ~5g's a month (tax free). however, i also got BAH for an extremely expensive city and numerous incentives and hazardous duty pays. if it was just base pay, it would have sucked.

that's really good money for a college student...and it was (at times) pretty interesting making it. but other times it sucks...like when you work 7 days/week, 12+ hours per day...maybe it wasn't that great.

i also didn't have to buy a thing while i was over there.

plus, i come back and tuition is totally paid for. and, on top of that, i get the gi bill to use as a monthly living stipend.

it's not a bad deal...
