My other computer is fucked........I need to get it to boot to cdrom. Geez this is gonna suck cause I will lose MS office.......Unless of course anyone wants to shoot me a cd.....lol. Please tell me how to get my puter to boot to cdrom so i can recover it.

When you fire it up you will see a script that says hit delete to go into set up.(hit delete) Once in cmos set up you will have to find where it tells you what boot sequence you are on, it should just boot to the C drive and A drive. Change where it says A drive to read the name of your cd rom (D)

I was doing F8 and cntrl to get into command prompt but every time I put in D drive it said it was invalid. Will this be different if I hit the delete button instead?

It sounds like your cd rom is not designated as the d drive, try E or F (the d drive might be a partition of the hard drive)

If your computer is that hosed it may not even recognized the CD-ROM (as it sounds). What you may need to do is install the CD-ROM driver from a boot floppy.

Sound confusing? Sorry. Of course if you don't have a boot floppy lying around the house with the device driver on it you will need to access your computer manufacturers support website from another computer.

Sorry, this probably doesn't help much. But if there is anything I can't do let me know.

You are correct, it is not recognizing the cd rom drive. I have tried every letter of the alphabet. I will do as you suggested. Which means I will lose my programs..........arghhhhhhhhhhh.

if you have the start up disk windows asked you to make when you installed it i *think* (not sure) if you stick this in before you start up your computer it will install a CD driver for u and allow you to use your CD drive.

im not sure but maybe the start up disk from another PC might work if you dont hav one lying around

You could try to go into the Cmos set up and have it auto detect your hardware.
