Fructose, good or bad?

I have a MRP made for dieting that contains 50% fructose, and I hear diet people recommend it cause its low GI, but now I hear some ppl say it stores as fat easily.

Whats the final word on this?

If you read back on my posts, I specifically say that fruit is bad. Fruit (fructose for that matter) is considered evil, for, one, it is 4x more likely to be stored in the liver. Where the liver is full or is about to be full soon, the fructose will be stored as fat - not all, but a big portion. Low-gi does not always mean it's good, for fruit is a good example of this. I would NOT use an MRP that is 50% fructose that's ludicrous.

fructose

Fructose is not evil or good, it has its place. If you want a simple sugar, but don't want the insulin reaction, fructose is the logical choice. Fructose is great for replenishing liver glycogen after ketosis for instance, without resorting to an insulin rush which you get from other carbs. If you don't workout your muscles much, the insulin is probably undesirable.

Fruit also contains many photochemicals that are considered beneficial.

Actually fructose does create an insulin reaction after glucagon breaks down the liver glycogen stores. The spike is usually quiet high, but it all depends.....

Well fruit (a piece of fruit) has a low GI, so its insulin spike is going to be pretty small. The fructose in dude's MRP isn't buffered by fiber, and its probably a larger amount, so yes I agree. Lots of fructose will spike your insulin just like glucose. My bad. :)
