front squats or zerchers?

I tried zerchers only once and it seemed like an easy exercise, well easier than front squats at least. Can you lift more weights doing zerchers? :coffee:

I never trained quads alone, but will plan to in my next training routine.. :chomp:

use more weight...........what is your routine going to look like? Any other opinions on the two?

I plan to work my quads and hams on different days, probably like this:

MONDAY
Zerchers
Hack squats
Leg Extensions

FRIDAY
Mid-sumo back squats
SLDL
Deads from floor using Trap bar

I'm thinking of trying overhead squats... but which part of the leg does it hit more, the quads or hams?

My current split uses front and back squats as such:

Tuesday - Olympic Lifts, Heavy, Front Squats (4 x 3)
Thursday - Conventional push/pull routine
Saturday - Olympic Lifts - Speeed, Back Squats (6, 7 x 3)

IMO Zerchers are more a functional excercise more suitable for strongman training. Front squats are a great quad builder, excellent assistant lift for the olympic lifts, and less strenuous on the lower back.

Also, in general, you should be front squatting a helluva lot more with front squats compared to zerchers.

It all depends on what your goal is. If it's primarily building Quads, then Front Squats hands down. If you're focused on strengthening your core, try Zerchers.
