Why does everyone want the perfect lover? it doesn't make sense.
For example, with a friend, you can fail, make mistakes, have a personality, be yourself, etc. There is no faking like you are something you aren't to increase your 'friendship desirability'
Friends are there to help you when you are down, it is almost considered automatic for a lover to abandon you at tough times
Friendships are usually more mature than romances (romances tend to be fast paced & immature, at least the ones i've seen)
Romances are singular, you can have 10, 20, 100 friends. You can usually only have 1 lover
Romance cuts your odds. To get a romantic relationship, you have to find someone of the opposite sex (50% of the population) who is near your age group (10% of the population) who is willing to date you (2% of the population) who you want to date (1% of the population) who you can go out with for more than a few dates (.3% of the population). Friends can be anyone of any age, 100% of the population. More variety.
Why bother? a friend won't suck your dick or anything, but if you want emotional gratification why go to a lover for it? They probably won't give it.
