Free Speech and Bad Taste.

I'm a civil libertarian so I have fairly strong feelings about free speech.

She talks about the nation and the free market. Does anyone else see the irony in her speaking for "the nation" which she claims is against what is going on in the free market.

meh. He should have known better that it would get him in trouble. While there is free speech, it is all about sponsors and ratings. If you say something that is going to make all your advertisers bail out on the show, you aren't going to keep your job long. I don't view it as so much of a free speech issue as an issue of career suicide.

That's my point, the free market takes care of the matter. You don't need an anal retentive crusader to speak for "the people." The market does a good job of policing itself. If the US population was against violence, nudity, and profanity like she claims then we wouldn't have the entertainment we support.
