Hello Frank,
I started competing in May of 2000. All the shows I have done
11 so far have been NPC shows. I'm a middle weight. 5'7" compete at 174# I'm now 40 years old and getting ready to start my diet for spring shows in Feb. Here is my point I'm a very very light user that is a fact.
I have only use the non gnc goods for 3 years. Very simple bulk, cutbasic cycles. It does have alot to do with your contest diet trust me on that. I have done very well at all shows. Yes there are always bigger and harder and meaner guys out there.
If you want to compete you must just come in in the best shape you can. Don't worry about what the other guys are using. The first ten shows I had placed as low as 4th a few 3rd and many 2nd and 3 firsts. Then I went to Florida this past Oct. Just for the fun of it 15 guys in my weight class. ALL STUDS. I was a dink.
This was the first show I didn't get called out in the first round.
I was up on stage and looking at me wife (my biggest fan) and thinking these guys are juicing hard. They were gunning for this show. It was my 4th fall show. I said to myself then don't get down on yourself and think I need to up my usage. These guys some went home with trophies but I felt I went home with better health then any of them.
I'm just saying Frank I love to compete. I enter the mens open and the master. Just give it a try and have fun. Never let it be the end of the world based on your placing.
Good luck,
