Ford lighting killer from dodge!

How is it a lighting killer? a SVT Lightning runs high 12's in the 1/4 ....and w/ a drop pulley and k&n filter a lightning will run high 11's-low 12's.

kind of sad that the dodge is only running 13's w/ 500 hp when the lighting is running high 12's w/ 365hp..

Damn yo! i've spent a ton of time at the track and I've seen a lot of lightings struggle to get in the 13's. Most run low 14's on street tires up here. I've personally raced 3 at the track and killed all of them with an average time of 13.4 @ 106mph.

I'm not saying that they can't break into 12's. Most people that run it have a nightmare of a time launching the truck to get sub 2.0 60ft times.

Exactly.
I had a Dodge once. NEVER AGAIN.

I'll give you that, Dodge makes some crap. But the Viper is pretty sweet IMO. And I haven't really heard of any lemon stories about it. Not like the neon... Whoooooo that's some junk there.

first off...that dodge looks pretty bad ass. it's about time they made a special version of the Ram built for speed. i've always thought the dodge was the better looking of the three trucks.

now onto this business about a stock lightning running high 12s and then high 11s with pulleys and a k&N --> :lmao: come on man!! are you kidding me? those are insanely fast times even for a car. that lightning is fast but it's not that fast. i'd say a stock lightning would run somewhere in the 14s. you craz

Lightning's can run in the 12's, most don't because those who drive them can't launch them right and end up spinning the tires like a mad dog. I don't drive one and haven't driven one, but I know some who do and they are fast as shit (spinning the tires doing 70 on the highway) yet when they go to the track their times are shitty. Launch it right and you will know it's power, launch it wrong and you will think it's sloppy.

Dodge may have the power, but is that the output at the wheel or the flywheel? If it's at the wheel, I hope they don't ship them with anything other than ET Streets or Mickey Thompson Street Slicks. Any "street" tire, in my opinion, won't last more than one month.

If I can recall right, wasn't the Dakota RT supposed to be the Lightning's rival? They stomped on the Rangers and S-10's, when working anyways. But I think I read somewhere that their 5.9L engine was supposed to beat up on the Ford SVO.

~p~

I personally know 4 people that had Dodge trucks (ram , dakota) and all had transmission issues. That's a pretty high percentage.

the pulley is an oversize pulley for the supercharger... it adds an additional 4-6lbs of boost....the extra boost add a mother load of hp and torque.....

Get your facts straight. A smaller pulley makes more boost. with that remark you must remove yourself from this discussion with your tail between your legs. Read some mags and learn engines then return to this conversation. You've done nothing but fuck it up.

I decided to remove the name calling for this one.

Thank you, have a nice day.

you need to read some more mags.. as the pulley I am talking about goes on the crank not the supercharger itself... we just installed one on my buddy's lightning... changing the crank pulley is much easier than .. taking the superchager apart and having a machine shop press the old pulley of and the new one on....

and you are right.... a smaller pulley on the supercharger makes more boost.....as does a larger pulley on the crank.

here is a link: The info you missed

TIP: Have all of the facts before you try to flame some one..

and I agree w/ uNOwho.......being able to launch the truck is important...slicks help but the rear is to lite for the power that the lightning is putting out.... and the same for the dodge..

BULLSHIT!!!

I am not sure how much drag racing you do.. but it is my life. I am willing to bet you anything you want that these #'s were just spit out from the top of your head. I spend 3 days a week going to diffrent tracks.

Stock Lightnings run in the 13/14 second range stock. with no pulleys at all you MAY only gain .5 second.

You can disagree with me. But this is what I do, I am sure I forgot more about cars than most people know.

dballer - I was done with him and his misinformation. I love these guys that know what their car "can" do on the track but haven't brought it there yet. They are always in for a surprise.

My newest car is gonna be a high 8 low 9 car..... oh yeah.. and it has been done. This car ran a 8.96 at 147 in Gainesville.
The car weighs 2300lb with a small block in it. I traded my big block for a small block to go in it.
I also just got a glide with a brake. I am looking at boxes today. I also need some new lexan for the windows. I also gotta shell out almost $700 for the new converter. I just got a '10 for my Camaro... but now all of these changes.. motor change... no more solid lift cam... I am going with a roller for the small block. Also this car is about 1000 pounds lighter than the Camaro too. So I am going with a 4600 converter.

Have you ever heard anything about a Dedenbear "Bracket Master" delay box?

Jesus Christ man! That car is coming along great! You gotta get that run on tape man, I want to see that shit. I'm struggling to get my car in the 11's. :)

I haven't heard anything about the delay box, but it's a great idea for bracket racing (if it's what I'm thinking about)

Any updated pics?

This is not the Camaro... it is a S/ST Vega

I will send you pictures.

500 HP Viper engine in a dodge pickup.....one word .....Why? A pickup is a far cry from a sports car rates a zero on comfort ,handling sucks, and unless your a construction worker, a farmer or from the blue mountains I just dont understand......
