For those that actually lift weights....

Was there a certain age or point in your lifting that you started really packing on the muscle??

I I'm 27 and I guess my metabolism is slowing down a bit, cause I've been packing on the muscle like crazy. Already gotten accused of roiding, and I never have (yet).

I haven't changed my lifting or diet at all or anything.

Anyone else experience this??

When I was 23. During college, I worked out, but I was also doing a lot of swimming year around. too much cardio was hindering my gains. After college, the first winter in Atlanta, I kept training but no swimming... I was growing by the day.

I was never one to pack on muscle. No matter how often I lifted or well my diet was, it was near impossible for me to add mass. Al that would happen is that I'd get a little more defined, which made me look slightly larger.

Then I discovered AAS:) Since then I've put on about 30-35 lbs and have maintained that consistently. -It may be hard for me to gain, but it's also hard for me to loose muscle mass, which I love.

I would say once I got out of basic when I was around 22. My all time high was around 220 with a bodyfat below 11%. Nowadays I usually sit at around 195 with the same bodyfat. As I got older I saw no reason to stay that heavy, plus it interfered with a lot of training I was going through at the time.

hmm...slowing of metabolism could be the variable, as you are burning less calories. Same bf % ?

After 35, I started packing something on but unfortunatly it wasn't muscle... It's a constant battle because I can't eat totally clean no matter how hard I try..

Um... when I started juicing. :)

I put on steady muscle before that... but definitely went way up after I met my friend Mr. D-bol.

Finished basic at 22...then a few years in. Were you air force or something? A lot if people in the military don't have the time to train effectively.

And you seem like a smart guy. Did you go to school first?

Thanks.:) I got my bachelors at 20 then decided to enlist in the army. I got a 92 on my ASVAB but decided to go into infantry. My first year of college I got into heavy lifting so I did my best to keep that up after basic was finished (you probably know how hard it is to do anything remotely personal during basic).
When I was 26 I went into SF training but sad to say I washed out. The damn airborne section of the training is what got me (which I guess is where many people flunk out).

After that dissapointment I kind of bitched to my superiors and managed to get into some intel training which is what I was doing until last year.

And yourself?

I spend an average of $120 a week on groceries on just myself.

I work out 5 days a week

I have a refrigerator and pantry to myself at work

I can eat whenever, and I do just that - every 30 minutes.

I take approx. 4 dumps per day.

All of this and all I can do is maintain my weight. So no, he is not neccessarily full of shit. There are hard gainers and there are also those who claim to be hardgainers that just don't have their dieting/workouts right.

Good post. Training is all revolved around individuality.

yet you avoid the calorie numbers, if your not keeping a food journal whats the point do it right or don't do it at all this isn;t a flame but there is no such thing as a hard gainer, i know severl "hardgainers" who ahve packe don over 100 pounds so far one guy addeed liek 70 gear free jsut eating in like 2-3 years i am not syaing tis easy man but you do it right 2-3 times your gunna be huge

Hmmm...That is an interesting military career path. Spend any time at Ft Lewis or FtBragg?

What happened during SF training? From my understanding (and I was never SF, though I did serve under special operations command), everyone who goes into SF training must be airborne qualified already. Did you get hurt?

Interesting that you went from SF back to infantry (I presume) and were able to get reclassified (into intel) that far into your career. SF is usually the great escape for infantry soldiers who don't want to become drill sereants or recruiters.

I was an infantry officer. 25th ID and 75th Ranger Regiment.

Since you seem to be mildly retarded, I'll go slow.

I ate actual meals not snacks, every hour(no shit either). lifted ate lifted ate. I did this for 3 months or so (summer).

I didn't gain a pound. I had lightning fast metabolism when I was young and now its just now slowing down a little.

I got stronger, but did not gain any weight.

18-20 for me. I had never worked out regularly before. Once I started I gained 35-40 lbs of muscle naturally in 2 years. Now, 6 years later I'd say the mass has slowed down, but quality is far more apparent.

Where is your food journal and calories counts wiht % break downs for fat carbs and proten, jackass don't spout shit, also are you hyperthyroid? probably not but that doens;t matter cuz the kid who gianed 70 pounds naturally, he was so cut your excuses there is no such tihng as a hard gainer faster metabloism=faster protien synthesis peopel use t-3 to bulk son

I'd argue with you but I can't understand half the shit you write.

Seriously, I've dropped my keyboard and the letters and words that came up made more sense than you.

I have been to Fort Bragg a few times. Went there for my SOPC-1 program which lasted about a month. My basic and AIT training was at good old Fort Benning.
I was actually airborne qualified but, as you said, I did sustain an injury during training and that put me out of the running, which sucked because it was at about the 1/2 way point. I didnt feel like going for it again, mainly because I hated jumping out of planes.:)

Like I said before, I just made a big fuss to my superiors. I had gotten to be on really good terms with them and I used my education, asvab score, and my experience during desert storm to kind of get my way. I know it kind of seems like a childish move but I figure it was worth a shot. I had to become pretty much fluent in arabic which was, I think, the most difficult part of it.

Ranger huh. Lucky bastard.:D Any interesting stories to share?

Wow, I'm seriously impressed. That's the best spelling I've seen from you. A+

Now, if we can only work on punctuation, you'll be golden.

::rolls eyes:: The fast metabolism excuss does not hold for not gaining muscle mass. The faster your metabolism, the faster your rate of protien turnover. The faster you gain muscle. Its generally a failure to eat. Anyway, for those who said they couldn't gain a ibs of muscle while lifting but ate constantly, how many calories did you eat? I can drop 3 ibs a week on 3500 when cutting, so if you thorw out some silly number such as 4000... you just were not eating.

Yea I totally agree with you on that...when I started I weighed 140 at 6'3...pretty much thought it was impossible to gain weight. I was easily the skinniest person in my highschool.....now two years later I just weighed myself at 200. If I hadnt eaten the way have in the past 2 years though, I'd still be weighing in at 140.

If this is the case then why now that I'm eating 1/4 the amount of food I'm gaining mass like crazy??

It's because my metabolism is slowing down.

Maybe the quality of food you're eating has changed. I did a major diet overhall a few months ago. These days I basically eat nothing but tuna, steak, and rice and I've dropped 6% bodyfat and put about 50 lbs on my major lifts.

I'm eating less food, but I'm getting bigger and stronger (and leaner :) ).

yeah age 26... it seems like growth comes in spurts still.

this year ive really taken off in definition and holding weight, due to finances and the college renovating the gym I have only trained probably one month of the year so far,Im sitting at 180 and 13%bf hope 190-200 by new years with same bf. I totally atribute this year to diet,I have done two cycles prior to this natty year and I never looked this good
