I dont know a lot about gun calibers but what i would like to know is, which gun caliber is stronger 9mm or .38 special ?.

Stronger ? Well on paper 9 mm is suppose to be a bit stronger if I remember my classes on guns. But in real life both are the same. .38 special is used here by police officers while 9 mm is used by detectives. On a bullet proof they both suck. I would rather go with .45 ACP or .357 magnum.

Your best bet is a .40 The 9MM doesn't have the needed stopping power sometimes. .38 Special is in the same boat. .357 Magnum is a dandy revolver with a lethal load.

Best bet for home defence is a shotgun.

I agree... 40 cal is much better than 38 or 9mm. It's also very easy to handle.

A shotgun loaded with birdshot is great for home defense... you aren't going to put holes in your neighbors.

I've got to give 38+p's their props though. I used to live three miles into the national forrest... literally 3 miles from the nearest road. All the girls that lived in the cabins up there carried light alloy 38 hammerless snubbies loaded with 38+p's. It is absolutely the perfect ladies' gun if you get the Lady Smith J frame.

And in the forrest... all the girls kept their shotguns loaded with OO buckshot. We had some truly stand up women on that mountain.

That is exactly what my wife carries, it's a great concealed weapon, light, hammerless, it wont get caught up in anything in case she has to pull it out. She never leaves home without it. As manny78 says "since we live in highest criminality rate" it's best she has it with her all the time.

These are currently my favorites--
Glock 22 .40 s&w
Glock 31 .357sig

But I've got my eye on an H&K USP Compact .40 and a Walther P99 .40.

Yep.
