here's the breakdown. HDL is good and helps to reduce risk of atherosclerosis, but HDL decreases on roids. LDL is bad and increases risk of athero.
Everyone is genetically prone to high levels of either regardless of diet. If you have a diet high in cholseterol than you will have an increase in total cholesterol levels. This happens everytime we eat high cholesterol meals, but the body reaches its levels down to where it was in time unless you constantly eat high levels of cholestr. When we ingest high amounts of cholesterol the liver decreases production of intrinsic(body produces) cholester.
So each of us has a level that is regulated by the body on the basis of the quantity of enzymes in the liver that is determined by genetics.
