For anyone who hates the rice phenomenon...lol

I can still make a 1979 Camaro out run and jap car pound for pound.. dollar for dollar. There is no denying.

hoeycow is making sense. the purpose of this thread is more of a verbal lashing on cosmetic mods done to civics, preludes, integras, etc. if for whatever reason i was forced to drive a civic or prelude and had the extra $$ sitting around to modify it, i'd make it a sleeper. no gay ass blue lights on it, no folger's coffee pot for an exhaust tip, no altezzas, no "Powered by my big fat sack" sticker across the windshield, no hyper whites bulbs placed in every socket that can take a bulb, no neon, no fucking 10 story high aluminum wing with holes drillled in it, no Big Ben sized tach sitting on the dash, no 19" rims that you know rub every time the steering wheel is turned even the slightest bit, no "Type R" badging bought from an online website, nada. It's all rice. It was never rice before the retarded cosmetic mods came into play.

This sleeper would still be trumped by the sound of some pipes on a Mustang with an H-pipe and Flows. You just will never be able to achieve the screaming testicles sound that these cars put out.

No the fuck you didn't just say that you riceloving piece of shit. As they always say there is no replacement for displacement. Oh and saying they have nearly as much horsepower as a american car consider their class, a honda civic si "their so called hot rod of ecomony cars" has 161hp a ls1 camaro has round bout 305 the civic runs 16's the camaro runs 13's the civic can be pushed to run 12's with enough money, take that SAME amount of money and your camaro will run 10's as they always say son THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT. If you want to see some real hp/per liter I could show you my garden tractor i bet it blows any import out of the water. The hp/liter is just a weak arguement by riceboys when they get their ass handed to them again by some good ol american MUSCLE.

Drizz

Drizzt is a GOD..................BTW the Ls-1 is very underrated figure on 340+ HP at the flywheel. Oh YEA wanna know how easy it is to get an American built low tech 4 banger into the 12''s?? A HELL of alot less than ANY rice car. Just pick up any 2.5 Turbo Shadow, get a super 70 turbo, 40% injectors, 255hp Walbro fuel pump and a Cartek RR FPR. The cost of which is less than a ricer body kit. Shows how DUMB ricers are.

If Honda wanted to they'd put you all to shame so keep talking there you hick Tim Taylor wannabes. Japan is making real cars while Ford and Chev are about 20 years behind. Also you need to look at a little more than a Civic boys. I could compare my car to a Festiva too if I wanted it to look better than it is. Go back to your trailer parks and change your plugs Cooter.

Uh HELLO?? Take a look at the LS-1 motor and tell me its "low tech". Name one Jap car that made over 300hp for the same price as an LS-1 AND gets 20mpg. You are just some typical rice loving jerk who has the told old tired story about how he went to look at an American car at a dealer and the door handle fell off............every jerk like you tells that same damn story. Well support that fine country you love, move there.

Ok he makes VERY VALID points and this is your startling response filled with intelligence??? Its nice to see how intelligent you are concerning cars besides imports. Or are you just so blinded by that hp/liter bullshit that you cannot see clearly?? Your car sucks pal sorry to break it to ya. Your car is a grocery getter not a drag car if you want a real import go get a twin turbo rx7 a 300zx or a turbo charged supra they all have mighty potential your prelude or whatever the fuck has potential also potential to be a piece of shit. Latta.

There are many things to look at when purchasing a car. Albeit all cars carry a certain image with them from economy cars to sports cars to station wagons. Each person has his or her own taste. In that regards, I would have to say that the best cars for all purposes are not foreign cars and are not American sports cars. They are American (spec: GM) Luxury cars and here's why:
- Many of these cars (speaking of 90's to present): All Cadillacs, most Buicks, most Oldsmobiles, Chevy Caprice/Impala, Pontiac Bonneville, Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, etc. are packing fuel-injected V8 or big V6 engines. These cars arent designed for speed but some of them sure dont show it. The modern Cadillacs have Northstar engines and could push 135-150 top speed STOCK. They wouldnt run the best quarter mile times due to weight, but they would smoke a lot of vehicles, especially alot of the 4-cylinder wannabes.
- These cars are inconspicuous. You have to come to grips with the fact that this isnt the 1950's and street racing is frowned upon much more now. Ricing out a car is pretty lame and a sure-fire way to get harassed by cops and people who want to mess with your car. A mid to full-size luxury car is often considered by most to be an "old-person's car". This is advantageous in many ways: Cops dont look at the cars as closely, they are less likely to get stolen, Insurance discounts, etc.
- Consider day to day driving honestly. Are you going to be racing every day? Probably not. This isnt a discouragement to modding your vehicle, but some mods arent appropriate for daily drivers. Very low profile tires (anything lower than 50 series) may help cornering, but often greatly reduces ride comfort. You have to weigh these mod pros & cons before doing anything to your ride.

Pick a side, BB. Which is better, Muscle or Rice?
Definately American muscle. Buying American cars helps our economy. Rice arguments often argue about Japanese quality over American quality. You have to realize that this isnt the mid-70's and quality difference is minimal if any. Japanese business strategy is often wait for American innovation, then copy it and try to improve on it in their own ways. Japanese cars are meant to be different b/c of the main enviroment they are in. Japan is a small island (smaller than most states) and fuel is scarce. Half of the population of the US lives on that island, so they must be economy cars. Some Jap. cars have good looks, but in regards to pure speed/performance, many US cars win hands down. A stock 2001 SS Camaro is faster than 95% of the cars on the road and that is STOCK (340-375hp). When someone with an SS tunes that engine and adds mods, potentially NOS, you are looking at up to 450-550hp. 5.7L/550hp. Nothing Japanese comes close. The Chevy Corvette is even faster... The liter/hp argument is a desperate attempt by foreign car owners to try to look good. Thats like saying "my car has 16" rims, it's so much better than your car with 15" rims". I'm not saying I hate foreign cars by any means. Many have great looks and some are nice rides. But when push comes to shove on the racetrack, not only is it cheaper to mod an American car (Import parts companies know rich lil ricers will pay premium for that cold air intake kit) but in the end, you will get better results dollar for dollar. Nuff said. Word.
