Florida Powerlifters

Hey, I've noticed that there are a lot of guys on here from FL. I just moved to Tampa and can't find any good gyms to lift at or at least one that will let me use chains and bands. Can anyone recomend one? I know that Bob Youngs is down here but don't know where its at. Thanks for any feedback.

Yeah I'm in Jaguar Country...and I havent found anyone to lift with. I have all the equipment even just got my reverse hyper machine done...just have to go pick it up. I have noticed that ALOT of people on this board are down your way in Central/South Fla. BTW...Bob is on the board so I will let him tell you where he is at. 1-dawg and The Mann are also pretty close to you.

Looks like if I want to train with the big boyz I gotta head south....ROAD TRIP!

I'm in Lake Worth, which is near West Palm. You're welcome to come down here, but it's a haul for you. It takes me 4 hours to get to Tampa. Look into Lakeland. I've heard there are some lifters over there.

Wolf , Whats up. I go to USF. I've only been here for s few months and just picked a local gym to train at in South Tampa. I here that Golds in lakeland is pretty good other than that they all not that great. Lakelands a haul for me though.

Lakeland Golds is my gym and its the shit! Besides having a few powerlifters in there we have a reverse hyper and in our group we have bands all colors. Its definitly worth one work out or two. Besides the stuff we have we have a great facility. Tons of room and lots of weight. Dam i sound like a commercial!

kind of a drive to get up there, im lookin for a gym in south tampa.

Jay , How far is golds from say...Downtown Tampa
Wolf , I work out at a gym called metro flex because its right next to my house. there is also xtreme fitness down here but it sucks. Theres a golds off of Dale mabry but i didn't like that eaither.

Before i left Fl i worked passed tampa in St Pete. But i woul dsay 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. St pete is 15 minutes passes downtown tampa and we have done that many times in 35 minutes. It is a straight shot. I-4 to polk county park way get off at South Fl ave and golds is right there. When i get there i will give you my number when i get to Fl next weekened.

Sarasota

I am moving to Sarasota Fl. This weekend an d am looking for a place to train. I have seen a few gyms there but they look like they wont even allow deadlifting. Any help finding a powerlifting freindly gym in the area would be very helpful.

The South Floida Bench contest is on April 27th in Palm Beach County. It is very close to Fort Lauderdale and less than a 2 hour drive from Miami. I am looking forward to competing, and I would definately encourage all the Florida powerlifters to enter, it should be great! The entry form is on the top of www.elitefts.com
