Welcome to the Banana Republic.

FLORIDA GOP ADMITS ELECTRONIC VOTING FLAWED: Gov. Jeb Bush has insisted that touch screen machines in Florida are reliable and has vehemently opposed efforts to have the devices print paper records so the results can be audited. But the Florida Republican party that he leads is sending a different message to its members. A flier by the party cautions Florida Republicans that "the new electronic voting machines do not have a paper ballot to verify your vote in case of a recount." The flier continues: "Make sure your vote counts. Order your absentee ballot today." A spokesman for the Florida GOP "initially denied that the brochure was the work of the GOP. But after he was shown the flier, he backtracked."

The next election will be a crucial point in US history. It could get very nasty, if the bitterness of the last outcome is anything to go by.

This time there won't be just a lot of protesting and despair if the people get cheated again.

That doesn't mean he won't be President again.

Bush lost last time as well, including Florida - that didn't stop him from taking office.

Sour Grapes. Will you guys ever get over it? Do yourselves a favor, actually get someone elected president instead of using all your energy hating Bush.

Bush sucks. Bush lies. Bush is a disgrace to our Office. He couldn't even manage being a govenor, let alone a President.

He was overwhelmingly reelected in Texas, one of our largest states. I guess he managed ok.

Bush is barely winning in Florida... BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAA

President Bush looks a little stronger among likely voters in 16 battleground states, according to the latest Zogby Interactive poll. Mr. Bush now leads in four states, including a tiny margin in Florida, an improvement from the three states he held two weeks ago.
Curtesy of Wall Street Journal.

While Sen. John Kerry hung onto healthy leads in Oregon, New Mexico and Michigan, other states remain very tight. The leads Messrs. Bush and Kerry hold in 12 of the 16 states (up from 10 of 16) are within the margin of error, which varies between +/- 2.5 and +/- 4.4 percentage points. And three of the states -- Florida, Missouri, and Nevada -- are now decided by razor-thin margins.

The latest poll was conducted July 19-23. Presuming that all the states -- excluding Florida, Missouri and Nevada, which Zogby says are too close to award -- go to the current leading candidates and that the other 34 states go as they did in the 2000 election, Mr. Kerry would lead with 275 electoral votes to Mr. Bush's 220.

Bush is losing...

I guess you are yell at your television some more when November rolls around and the results are read. KERRY WINS.

True, I'll be watching football by then. Not really interested in watching a Bush landslide. Kinda boring.

The only thing boring was watching Bush try to convince the Amish that he was a prophet. That didn't work at all.

Remember what Titor said? "pay attention to the 04 election"

He also said the country would slide into civil war over the next 4 years, doesn't seem as far fetched now.

Come on dude. If the situations were reversed and the Republican candidate lost in Florida with the Democrats brother as the governor, his campaign manager as the official vote counter, thousands of complaints of disenfranchised voters etc.......you'd be screaming for 20 years.
