flaxseed vs cla

New member
are they the same thing?they both contain linoleic acid right?which is the most effective ?or are they different and i should take them both

cla = conjugated lipoic acid, so it's different. CLA is said to help reduce fat and whatnot, but I have yet to hear anyone have a positive experience with it. Flaxseed oil, on the other hand, is great for general health.

no idea, but CLA must be hard to digest because I burp it up for a while after taking (even with lots of food). And those are NASTY burps.

it has been proven that flax seed oil (and fish oil) has a lot of benefits

as for CLA I have not seen very conclusive studies...

I would stick to the old flax seed oil

Just to clear things up.....CLA is a conjugated form of LINOLEIC acid (omega 6). Flaxseed's benefit is the abundance of LINOLENIC acid (omega 3). the typical americans diet is rich in omega 6's, they are found in beef fat, dairy fat, etc. Omega 3's are in nuts, fish, etc. Both regulate prostaglandin function and produce specific eicosanoids.

hope that cleared things up.....

CLA is useful... in fact, studies are starting to prove that it can be VERY useful.

However, popping 2 1g tablets a day isnt going to help.

Beneficial in dosages of 6g+ daily. Fonz lost 3lbs in 12 days on 30g of CLA daily with no change in diet or exercise routine. Thats pretty impressive.
