fitness competition question regarding protan

legs

New member
What in the world do fitness competitiors use on there faces as far as coloring. Everytime I use protan, dreamtan, etc. on mine it is all splotchy. There faces look so good like, kind of like they only used makeup. Are they using protan on their faces or what are they using?

I dont remember right off hand. When I get home, I will look and then post tonight. As for self tanners, use a high quality. The off brands do not blend so well.

You can use the little foam rubber applicator to brush it on your face - you could put some on and sit around for maybe 15 min then wash it off - do this a few times over the course of the couple of days before the show. I also kept a little bit with me for touch up the day of the show.

Sorry I didn't get back on last night. I worked extremely late and went to the gym, etc. Anyway, the bronzer was made by Bonne Bell. I believe Clinique makes a good bronzer also. As for self tanners, I personally use Bain de Soleil for the face. One suggestion I could also make is to make sure you get your ears:) Might look funny being a beautiful tan all over and have white ears:p

actually dream tan put on very lightly with a sponge is what I use on my face and its always last minute ( morning of the show) just don't over due it. the problem with bronzer is your body will be a different color than your face and you will stand out for the wrong reason.

Just to check, it might be good to take a pic of yourself in bright light before the show or the night before to see if your face is roughly the same shade as your body. A lighter layer of tan on yoru face can look like white clown makeup under the lights on stage.

You are so right Sassy. Great suggestion.

As for bronzer not being same color and/or shade, I did not have that problem. The bronzers do come in different shades, depending on your skin color. However, I think the DreamTan idea is really good.

I just buy a really dark powder to match my skin colour with protan on. It's easy to wash off and looks good. No blotchie marks.

Wonder if the foundation/powder for african americans would work? Or would I need a coat of protan underneath it also? The problem with the protan on my face is that I have dry skin on my face and it tends to not go on very smooth.

I wouldn't trust Bonne Bell as far as I could throw them - they can do lip balm just fine, but when it comes to something like a fitness competition, you're better off with a high-quality product. Like takniteasy said, Clinque makes a good one, and Christian Dior's gets a big thumbs up from me. If you have trouble applying it evenly yourself, I believe that self-tanner applications are offered as a treatment in some spas/beauty salons.

Good luck, keep us posted.
