Fist of the North Star......

Burning_Inside

Elite Mentor
I watched this anime last night, and it's just friggin crazy.

Set in a post apocalyptic earth..There's these guys that are just ridiculously super powered and are kicking everyone's ass.

This one guy gets up off of a table to tough that the bed just explodes. I don't think anyone can ever be that tough in real life.

people got punched so hard they were bleeding out of their pores and 10 seconds later their right trapezius would start spouting blood everywhere. The hair on their heads would fly out at lightspeed like a porcupine on an 8 ball of coke.

i know, that movie is frigging weird. and some of the guys are like twenty feet tall. its awesome, classical manga at its best.

I used to play the video game as a kid. I think it was part of the Ninja Gaiden series. For Nintendo if I'm not mistaken? Had some pretty cool graphics for it's day.

such poor quality. i know little about anime, but i've seen several films which blow that one out of the water.

vampire hunter d: bloodlust <--- the best i've seen so far

ninja scroll <--- excellent animation, and it's filled with over-the-top action, but not as outrageous as Fist of the North Star (which is a good thing

animatrix <--- has 8 (I think) different short films, and most of them are good.

akira and ghost in the shell are classics, and they're out there, but perhaps not in the sense you're looking for.

cowboy beebop and spriggen are also very popular, but I haven't seen them. princess mononoke and spirited away are two films made by hayao miyazaki. i've only seen spirited away, and it was really weird, but funny. these kinds of films revolve heavily around the story, and aren't focused on outlandish fight scenes.

Just saw bloodlust, didn't think it was all that.

Saw Ninja Scroll long ago, thought it was better than bloodlust.

Saw Ghost in the shell ages ago...

Yikes jackangel. I own most of the ones you listed. My Akira dvd is in the collectors' tin. I still haven't seen Ghost in the Shell- every time I try to rent it from blockbuster someone's already snatched it.

How old is Fist of the North Star? I remember watching this like 10 years ago... I used to like Golgo 13 alot

I think it was released in '91. I saw it in a theater in Manhattan around that time.
