First Shot

Just took first shot tonight, went in my thigh. After I pulled the Pin out a good stream of blood ran down my leg. I did the best I could to aspirate but the plundger didnt seem to want to pull back. I did notice a few air bubles come thru. Is this good enough for aspirating? Do all shots bleed?

You should be fine. You probably nicked a vein. If you hit a vein going in and aspirated the syringe would easily fill with blood. I have injected and had blood come out.

Most likely a vein if only a stream, if pulsing out then could be an artery but you should not see blood like that on most shots.

it will happen more often than you think. you'll be fine. you just went through a vein.

First of all don't try to pull all the way back, just enough so that you can tell that if you were in a vein blood would start to enter the syringe.
Second you probably hit a vein on the way in/out. Not a big deal happens. If it starts bleeding like that on the way in then pull it out and try another one just not exactly where you hit the vien...
And don't worry about the bubbles you would need to inject like 12cc's to kill yourself with O2.

Thanks for the replies. Just to clear this up, when you aspirate tiny air bubles should come thru, Correct? And that would mean your not in a Vein? Also is it OK to inject 2CC into the Delt muscle?

When you aspirate your looking for blood. If you see blood drawn back in then pull out and choose a new location. 2cc into a delt is about as much as I would do in one shot.

Should be fine, After the first shot its all downhill! The leg is my favorite inject spot!
